The NBA has opened an investigation of the reported transaction involving Milwaukee and Sacramento that was to send Bogdan Bogdanovic to the Bucks via sign-and-trade after Friday's scheduled start of free agency, @NYTSports has learned

Hopefully this is just the NBA going through the motions. Loss of draft picks are often a penalty in these kinds of infractions.

I guess the backtracking didn’t work. Silver must have received a lot of complaints from teams especially ones that were hoping to have a shot at Giannis.

I guess the Bucks may lose the only first they have for the next 5 years

Good, they still have their 2021 pick. Losing that and Bogdanovic makes it harder for Milwaukee to get where they thought they were going.

Yeah I can’t imagine them punishing the Pelicans as well. I’m sure it’ll be the 2021 and if there’s more picks taken away they’ll be after all the traded ones

So it was illegal because free agency hadn't started yet. And if they had waited to Friday it would have been good?

They let Lebron and the Lakers recruit AD for years with years left on his contract, but they are investigating the Bucks/Kings about S&T discussions two days before free agency???

AD had plausible deniability because his agent was a suppository up LeBron’s arse.

OTOH, Woj linked this before the start of free agency and said it was a done deal.

If Riley thought he had had a shot at AD maybe the league would have investigated the Lakers.

It's funny because the people that broke the sign and trade aren't talking about the investigation. Some dumb agent or front office member shouldn't have let Woj and Shams go public with the deal so early.

Is it really tampering if the team he’s on is involved?

This is stupid.

Yes, because by doing a deal like this before free agency they stopped other teams from even pursuing him. I did hear somewhere that in order for a tampering investigation to occur a team has to go to the NBA and request it, and pay for the investigation, so I wonder which team did that...

He’s a free agent. He’s not under contract with the team.

It is stupid. are they going to investigate the Knicks when the sign Hayward, b/c I guarantee they have had talks, specific talks about contract numbers, just like philly did last year with Horford.

There should be an exception for rfas imo. If the kings ultimately have the rights to retain him, I see nothing wrong with the player and team seeking a trade before free agency starts. The other teams dont matter, he obviously would've signed an offer sheet with the bucks.

This is a blessing in disguise. I'd rather have Divicenzo over Bogdanovic. He is a better team player, is much younger and getting better..

I guess it’s hard to know who’s telling the truth here though, rumors yesterday that Bogdan didn’t agree to it.

It's probably circumvention rather than tampering. If the Bucks just talked to the Kings, that's fine. If the Kings talked to Bogdan as the middleman, that's circumvention, not tampering.

Larry Coon knows the CBA rules as well as anyone. The way he's describing it I wonder if it's the Kings that could be the one getting punished
