Man I love what Houston has been doing lately. AJ had a really strong rookie season. Last year was a mess for Atlanta overall. Houston has way too many players tho. Another trade has to be coming for them.

Sure. That is a great value trade for Houston. My question to you is: who in our lineup to you want him replacing?

Jose - No

Hawk - No

Dyson - Still has a higher ceiling than AJ. So nope.

You can't have everyone.

Wow, nice pickup by the Rockets. Must be nice to have 2nd round picks when teams look to dump a decent young prospect.

Phoenix's Eric Gordon is declining his $3.4 million player option for the 2024-25 season and becomes a free agent, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium . Multiple contenders are expected to pursue Gordon, who averaged 11 points on 37.8 percent 3-point shooting last season.

The point is where is he getting reasonable mins. AJ is too good to be a 13th man on a roster.

He's not getting valuable mins over your homegrown young prospects in Hawk and Dyson or Jose and CJ. Keeping a cohesive locker room is very important, and having him come in to be the 13th guy when he is better than that is a bad idea for team chemistry.

Plus, you must consider the cap implications of bringing in another 4 million for a guy who won't get valuable mins.

when you trade a guy you picked 16th overall just 2 years ago for the 44th pick, i wouldn't describe him as a good player.

I imagine this is the Hawks "re-setting", which makes no sense if they're still holding out for major hauls for Murray, Young, Capela, etc. They just seem to be a mess.

If BI makes the same or more than Murray, I’m going to puke.

see that's what's wrong with the NBA. They hand out max contracts like candy.

Jamal earned this contract. He's proven he's worth it.
BI hasn't proven he's worthy of a max contract of this much.

I get giving out max contracts on rookie extensions to guys that maybe don't deserve it. But guys that are signing their 3rd contract should only be getting max contracts if they are truely the best player or 2 on a championship caliber team.

OG Anonoby getting a max contract is so stupid, no different than when Tobias got one.
BI getting a max contract would be stupid.
Scottie Barnes signing a rookie max extension is a bit dumb to me, but i get it, and i'm ok with it.

Yeah the worst thing a team can do in the modern nba is pay a starter star money. The fact of the matter is that, even though they’re paid equal, not all max players are created equal.

Agreed, some of these contracts are absurd but the team is beholden to the contract the way the NBA's salary system is designed.

Scottie Barnes like many others (Ingram for example) deserve it because they project to be better players who showed continued growth and the first major extension is mainly that for these 'franchise guys'

think ultimately our main dumping ground for BI is going to be the Sixers, but they probably aren’t going to be desperate enough to give us a deal that we like until the Paul George situation is squared away. Unfortunately their deal is going to mainly be focused around picks, which means we’re going to have to find a third team if we’re interested in adding talent rather than assets. If the Sixers sign or trade for someone else we’re probably fricked

That's why I think it will be a 3 team deal.

Murray does everything a great number 2 should and despite never making an all star team he’s infinitely more valuable than BI

Plays off ball, runs off screens, takes smart shots, and even if he isn’t a good defender he works his arse off on that end.

On paper BI should be better than Murray with his size and length but the mentality that BI has is why he’s a bum that no one wants

Two picks, Paul Reed and Jared McCain and call it a trade.

Send whichever 6ers pick to Utah for Kessler
