I 100% believe if we get Green and a PG that we can get the best out of Jalen.

If you get Green and a PG where do you plan on playing Green? Put him at the 5? Or you benching one of Herb or Trey?

Yeah I don’t like Green on this team either. I know he’s talented and shown flashes, but I don’t think we have the team personnel that lets him thrive and unlock his full potential.

Although it’s not perfect either, I think our team is better set up for JSJr to reach that next step than Green.

I'mnkt a Green guy but he's a big swing. He could take a huge leap and be a star like SGA did. We're not gok gto get an established 2. Gonna have to identify a guy like Brunson ready to take a leap

No difference than Baron thinking it would pay off in the long run for JSJ.

If theres no other packages for BI then we see what we have with Green/ Hawk and use the lesser + CJ for the next move.

I agree you cannot pass up greater talent in the BI trade if offered.

You want "your guy" then you want "fit". If neither are available then you better go highest value if you plan on making the trade regardless.

I think the difference is that for Green to reach his full potential, he’ll need a team that give him the freedom to really explore the studio space and work on his game. We aren’t in a position to give him that kind of opportunity the next couple years. With JSJr, our situation isn’t a perfect fit either, though I do think we have a role to give him that I think could help the team and still allow him to reach his next level as a player.

Again, this is just a personal preference between the two for me.

Jonas ain’t taking a taxpayer MLE right?

Maybe we could work some sort of sign and trade to get an extra pick swap or something

“The Pelicans do not want to regress after winning 49 games.”

Yikes.

Grade A example of how terrible our fan base is. Pelicans want to improve on 49 win season, tied for 6th in the brutal west, 3rd in the East and the second most wins in the 22 years in NO.

Our fan base gets disgusted.

If that’s how you want to look at it. But it honestly fits what a lot of fans have been saying about Griffin. He doesn’t have the balls to make a major move.

Saying they don’t want to regress doesn’t mean they don’t want to make a major move, it means they’re not going to be chasing draft picks in a BI trade and instead will want more veteran type players

Yes but that kind of depends on available options.

Worst case scenario is he walks for nothing next offseason.

Next worst case scenario is that we trade for a bunch of expensive pieces that don’t fit and aren’t movable.

Right, it means that we are letting JV walk and trading BI, but not for future assets. We want to replace them with better players/fits.

I can’t find it now, but saw a tweet a few hours ago tying the Pels and a few other teams to Capela. That’s 2 separate Hawks connections coming out today.

Capela is ballast, meaning smoke is there about a Trae or Murray swap.

I think it’d be Murray.

DraftKings has odds on what team BI plays for to start the season.

Favorite is the Pels at -110
Sixers and Magic are at +400 and +600, Hawks and Rockets at +800.

I don’t get the Magic being so prominent in the conversation. They were the first team mentioned when BI on the trade block became a story, and now they’re one of the top betting favorites? They arguably have the worst set of expendable assets unless they are willing to go all in on picks and swaps.

It makes me think 2 things.

1) The deals for BI are terrible, but if it’s that bad it seems like you kick the can on trading BI.
2) The Magic are a likely partner in another deal. Maybe a CJ deal that is Plan B or part of moving both BI and CJ. Maybe they are going after Trae instead of Murray which means you need to move CJ.
