But also saw a report today that no one is interested in Clarkson so they are having to pay to offload him and at least get someone that is an expiring in LeVert and a young player in Hawkins. Have to move off Kessler but that's where the picks would come in.

I know it would probably never happen but that is the logic behind it.

The Jazz aren't goign to give up anything to move Clarkson. If he's a negative to someone, then they just wouldn't include him. They have cap space and they don't care about just cutting him.

I would rather try for Strus than Levert, although i'm not sure who the Cavs value more. Levert is an expiring and Strus is signed for the next three years so it depends on if they see him as something long term. If they're trading for Cam Johnson they might want to get rid of Strus' long term salary. But he would be perfect off the bench. A movement shooter that can also play defense.

PG: Murray, Jose
SG: CJ, Strus
SF: Herb, Trey
Pf: Zion, Karlo (Trey could play more here too)
C: Allen, Theis

Does the money work on a cam johnson/bi trade

It should. Doesn't cam make like 30/35?

I'd call Sean marks and try to sell him on bi.

Take Claxton and cam johnson

Claxton is untradable for months because he got a new contract. He also makes $28m.

Can makes about $26m, which is close to BI but not close enough for trade purposes.

Something like BI and Merrill to Brooklyn, DFS and Allen to New Orleans, and Johnson to Cleveland works

I like that. We need a backup 4 and another wing defender. DFS is a good fit. Contract is tolerable.

I like this for the Pels, but I feel this would fall apart over draft picks. My take on how each team values their own players in this deal

BI = 4 1sts
Allen = 3 1sts
Johnson, DFS, Merrill = 1 1st.

Pels send out 4, get back 4
Cavs send out 4 get back 1
Nets send out 2 get back 5

These don't all have to be unprotected likely lottery picks, but would the Nets add 3 picks to Cam/DFS to get BI? Would Griff feel he needs a pick too even though he's probably getting fair value back with just players?

Would think Nets would have to add at least 1 1st to Cavs (with maybe a couple of 2nds).

What if the Nets change course and think they can build something with BI?

I know it wouldn't be legal until Sept but what about DFS and Bojan for BI?

Then also do Hawk, JRE, pick for Kessler separately.

I don't know if the Nets would be interested in that but they would have Cam and BI on the same team with Claxton and Simmons. That is a lot of size.

Would end up being something like this for the Pels...

Murray/Jose
CJ / Trey / Reeves
Herb / Bojan / Matty
Zion / DFS / Karlo
Kessler / Theis / Missi

I just don't think the Nets are going to start a rebuild with BI and trade picks after getting (6) for trading essentially the same player with more defense. They have no reason not to be bad this year.

Furthermore everyone is talking about adding LaVert/ DFS/ Cam Johnson when TJ still hasn't signed a deal and will be comparable.

Trade BI/ Hawk for Allen/ Tyus/ picks
Move LaVert to a 3rd team.

Sign Gordon Hayward to the min

Murray/ Tyus/ Reeves
CJ/ Jose/ Ryan
Herb/ Trey/ Hayward
Zion/ Karlo/ JRE
Allen/ Thies/ Missi

I think the chatter for BI is going to turn to GSW soon once they realize they aren't getting Markannen. And GSW is not standing pat this offseason. They've got to try to make one last push to win with Steph.

Wiggins/Moody 2 firsts and a pick swap is probably a lot less than what Ainge is probably trying to pry out of them for Markannen.

Send Wiggins to Toronto so they can have a canadian team and bring back Bruce Brown. He's more willing to come off the bench, and i think a Jose/Brown combo off the bench would be high energy all the time.
Would probably get a Toronto 1st as well from them.

Send Moody to Orlando for WCJ.

That's not what i woudl ideally want back for BI, Brown/WCJ/3 firsts, but at this point i'm ready to just move on.

You don't have to break it to me.

On Christian Clark's latest podcast he said he believes based on some league sourced info that the situation is leaning towards Lauri staying in Utah. I don't think this part was sourced, but if that's the case he thinks Utah could be a team interested in trading for BI. I'm sure Kessler, Collins and picks works for most here.

This would be 1 of the better "worst case scenario's"

Myles Turner + Nesmith is another not so terrible lateral move depending on what Turner gets paid and what picks we get back.

Fans are putting too much stock in "BI's value" and not our team value.

A return for BI needs to either:

Make us immediately better
Or
Allows lateral sustainability

If we end up with 1-2 future picks and 1-2 players that will be on our team for 3+ years or help us sustain current players past 3+ years then it is a successful trade. That's regardless of what people think BI's value is.

Actually don't hate that idea. But don't think Toronto says yes. They already have Barrett, Barnes, Dick, Mogbo, and Agbaji to give minutes to at the 2-3 spot. Unless Barrett and Barnes can play the 4. Plus they just gave massive contracts to Barnes, Quickley, and Barrett.

Brown makes winning plays and I love his defensive tenacity. Would be a guy that we would love on the team. I don't hate Carter as the 5 because, ultimately, whomever we get for that spot won't finish games anyway.

I don't even require 2 good picks, they just need to be picks in the right years that allow us to maximize the number of picks we could send in some future CJ for star player trade.

Very much agree. At this point, we need more roster balance and future flexibility. Getting 2 for 1 with BI can do both. The picks are just lagniappe IMO but definitely should try to get some. We'll eventually need cheaper depth if the Pels finally decided to be a tax team with Murray, Zion, Trey, Herb as the core.
