CP3 + Pops will absolutely destroy BI if he keeps taking dumbass shots. BI should have more value to the Spurs than any other team.

At this stage in his career CP3 shouldn’t play more than 15-20 mpg, so they definitely still need more ball handlers. With Wemby being under rookie contract for the next 3 years now is the time you take advantage of surrounding him with high priced vets that can raise your ceiling.
If we can send BI to Spurs and get back those Hawks picks, I would call up Atlanta immediately and offer their 2025 1st and 2026 swap back to them with Collins for Okongwu and the Lakers pick back.

It would be interesting to see if you can get Utah and/or Atlanta involved into this with San Antonio. Somehow get Barnes and kessler/capela here.

Barnes + WCJ + Kessler would be the most ideal.
Even WCJ + Kessler would be sick at this point. I still think we end up with 1 of those 2.
"Available" Centers:
Kessler
WCJ
Isaiah Stewart
Mark Williams
Jack Landale
Paul Reed
Looney
Not set in stone:
Capella
Ayton
Vucevic (Not.fricking.happening.)
Allen (not likely but slight chance)

Keep up the good work guys. I check in through out the day for updates

I completely forgot about Utah, they can use their cap space to help facilitate a deal and get assets for it especially if they trade Lauri to GS. Something like this:
Pels: Barnes, Kessler, Okongwu, Lakers 25 1st, Hawks 27 1st
Hawks: 25 Hawks 1st, 26 Hawks swap (they can now trade Trae and go for a tank)
Spurs: Ingram
Warriors: Lauri
Jazz: Kuminga, Moody, Looney, Collins, 25 Pels 1st, Second worst of the 3 Pels 27 1sts, whatever picks they want from Warriors
That opens up space for us to use both the MLE and BAE to get a backup PG and SF

Why Barnes over Keldon Johnson?
Johnson is way younger, more athletic and can play positions 2-4. Ingram would take his spot so he might have a chip on his shoulder. Barnes would be a 3/4 backup that is coasting out the rest of his career. Johnson has upside. I'd rather take a chance on that..

BAE for TyTy or would someone else pay more?

I guess one has to ask first: are they, in fact, intensifying?

In a matter of speaking, I think they are.
The number of wings available via trade or free agency is petering out. BI is the biggest name still out there. (Lavine is small name big ego bigger contract at this point)

I actually like Sochan out of the 3. I just wasn't considering Keldon Johnson honestly. But agreed him or Sochan would be better than Barnes if that trade were to happen.

If Spurs give up Johnson you likely wont get them to give up picks also.
I would much rather Barnes and 2 picks with a swap over Keldon
Ewww
I don’t want a guy that had to start shooting free throws one handed because he literally cannot hit the broad side of a barn any other way

You have to get Sochan and Collins back. That's the starting point. I'm not really interested in Keldon Johnson.

Depends on whether we are chasing a 3 or a 4.
Johnson as a 3 works if we are getting a 4 like Isiah Mobley off the scrap heap as a backup. Cheaper to get a backup 4 than a 3 of any kind.

Unless I am missing something, I’m not sure why we are mentioning Barnes. He can’t be aggregated in a trade.
Posted on 7/8/24 at 8:54 am to PELsu
He was absorbed fully into cap space by the Spurs, so I think people are claiming trade rules don’t restrict him being moved.
If he were traded for another player, that would be different.

Not including BI, we only have 4 of them on our roster right now, and 2 of them literally can't play defense. We really only have 3 guys who can play defense on the perimeter.
This is a big problem, much like not having a starting or backup center.
Griff has a shite ton of work to do before the season starts to complete the roster, and I don't know what his expectations are for starting center. He's pretty much pigeon holed himself into a starting center that's on a rookie contract.

I don't think the trade is official yet so pieces can still be moved or another team added. To my knowledge *
We really need a 5 and a 4/5 hybrid > a 4 or 3/4 hybrid.
But Sochan's defense and contract are beneficial to this team and is a nice replacement to Dyson while giving us a better backup 4.
Not saying Barnes/ Keldon aren't also beneficial but I'm not sure about a long term fit.

I think people would really like the type of player Sochan is. He's replace the Naji role. He's a pest. He does a lot of things well. Not a shooter, though, so Pels Talk will reject him.
Posted on 7/8/24 at 9:50 am to SouthMSReb
He's also a low iq offensive player, worse than Naji.
I'm talking he will force a shot tripled teamed while wemby is wide open under the basket.
