very far from a Hollinger fan, but this is about what most of us feel:

Bringing back Melli Head on a Stick might be worth it

Also, us tanking the year AFTER Wemby would be very on brand

Well there is 1 bad prediction:

Going all in for a 2 year window and selling all of our rookies/ young assets for the sole purpose of acquiring a player that compliments specifically CJ. All because we are the Pelicans and we will be irrelevant after 2 years.

Why would Melli want to come back?

He lives at home in Italy with family - and where he is a celebrity.

He is captain of the Milan team where he makes about $2.5 million a year (about what he would make in the US).

Has an endorsement deal with Armani. He gets dressed in free Armani clothes and gets VIP at Armani parties.

NBA weekend did their predictions this morning, Sam Mitchell picked Pels to win 2nd seed in the west, beat GS and Phoenix in the 1st and 2nd round before losing to Denver in the WCF.

I’ll take it

It’s not preposterous if we stay healthy all season.

That’s what everything hinges on with this team, healthy Zion, CJ and BI we should be a top 3 team in the west.

Health is one key. The others are:

- Growth and improved play from the group of Zion/Trey/Jose/Dyson/Naji/Herb/Kira/Hawkins. Collectively, that young group should be expected to improve a great deal. We could be one of those teams that is a much better team by the end of the year than at the beginning.

- No dropoff from our older guys. If CJ, Jonas, or Larry suddenly get old and slow, that could really endanger our success.

At the end of the day this whole season is about Zion staying healthy. Even without BI and struggling CJ- due to injuries, Zion led us to the top of the west. Yeah, all those other little things matter to a degree but again if Zion is healthy for at least 60 games or more- this team is a contender. All the other stuff honestly only matter if Zion is injured or us competing with top teams in the playoffs.

Jose and Larry were our 2nd and 3rd best players most nights in December. They probably were playing a little above their heads, but that’s what superstars do for role players.

If we have a relatively healthy team and the under 25 guys keep improving, the Pels will be contenders UNLESS someone like BI doesn’t fit and just destroys the flow. I don’t think that will happen, but if you’re healthy and not succeeding, that’s probably why.
