What's the boards thoughts on Jack White?
Is he given enough credit or too little? If any of you have some favorites by jack, please post them.

This is a favorite of mine:

He's kinda the standard bearer for rock these days. He's definitely a little out there, but he's involved in so many interesting projects and supports so many great bands that he's kinda hard to dislike. He's pretty effects driven, but can also shed. He's pioneered both modern sounds and retro vibes. His low-fi tones and bluesy bebop style guitar runs are constantly mimicked but never duplicated.

Personally, my favorite project of his is The Raconteurs, and this is one of my favorite songs by them Many Shades of Black.

Awesome response, I find him hard to dislike as well, he has his hands in so many projects, I'm going to listen to the track you posted.

I guess I'm a Jack White convert. I gave him very little credit back in the White Stripes days.

It Might Get Loud began the change in my opinion. This was a doc with Jimmy Page, The Edge, and Jack. He more than held his own with a couple of legends.

I've seen him live a couple of times since then and he puts on an amazing show. When he is at his best, he will blow the roof of any place you put him in.

Heartily recommend this doc. I also came away much more impressed with White after watching.

I also enjoyed his work on the American Epic series on PBS a few years ago. For those unfamiliar, it showcases multiple recordings by current artists using only the technology available in the early days of the music industry.

Here's a sample: "Two Fingers of Whiskey" - Jack White & Sir Elton John

Page and White were great. The Edge was odd man out.

Jack White slayed Jazz Fest 18. Huge fan.

I saw him in Nola a few years ago right after Lazaretto came out and it was incredible. As someone else said, he has his hand in so many things. He has an all female band that he plays with that is really good.

I’ve grown to like him more and more over time. Kingbob said it best in his post above. I agree with all of that.

I believe it was Whole Lotta Love. As Page plays the opening riff, the face Jack White makes is hillarious.

JW is a genuine phenom. He is a brilliant song writer along with being an exceptional musician. His problem, however, is his penchant for going off on tangents. He trends towards the obscure sometimes with his songs, and it detracts from his otherwise outstanding work. His last solo record was a disaster, and this is why his Raconteurs work is by far his best. Having Benson maintain a steady hand keeps White in check, and that promotes great, consistent music.

Saw him in the Lazeratto tour in Nola in 2014 and was blown away. Boarding House Reach wasn't for everyone but his latest work with the Raconteurs was top notch. His shows are always amazing and I highly recommend seeing him live.

He insisted on playing shitty pawn shop guitars for the longest time. Seems to be a bit of a poser. Good guitarist though. Best stuff from the White Stripes.

really loved those early White Stripes records.. Seeing them at El Matador and Shim Sham in NOLA... good times..

I dont really care for the Raconteurs at all.. though, I loved Brendan Benson's early solo records...

I saw them this past fall at Riot Fest to see if that would change my mind and it didnt really at all... just not my sound..

At one point in time all I listened to was Jack White. Kind of grown apart from it over the years though. I think the raconteurs were at his best, as there were some other lead competition that sort of kept him in check, as I find his solo stuff to be a bit overbearing but still some great moments.

Those first few white stripes albums had some awesome licks (little bird comes to mind)

I’m not a big Jack White solo fan. I loved The Raconteurs when I was younger though.

Who wouldn’t be just in awe of watching your childhood idol and one of the top three greatest Guitarists ever play a private show for you?

Jack White’s expression is awesome:
Here’s the clip. Jimmy Page is more than a man.

Woah now.

He's a very smart marketer, and got to be in an enviable position, based upon his right read and play.

I respect him, for sure. You grossly overstate his significance, however.

My two pennies.
