re: Anyone else doing Phish @ Sphere this week?
Posted by ThePenIsMightier on 4/22/24 at 10:26 am
I was there for N3. I wish I could have made all 4. It was incredible. Probably the best sound I've heard at a concert. I was in the 100 level so part of the spehere was obstructed by the overhang but still amazing visuals....

Vanagon to Louisiana
Posted by ThePenIsMightier on 3/20/23 at 2:02 pm
I just finished reading this book and I feel like it's a must read for anyone who grew up in Louisiana and moved out of state for greener pastures. Lots of fond memories and reminders of good times at LSU and in Louisiana in general. Definitely worth a read.

re: Who had a better career, better catalog of music, The Eagles or Aerosmith?
Posted by ThePenIsMightier on 3/3/22 at 11:58 am
70s Aerosmith vs. 70s Eagles straight up - I think Aerosmith wins.
But, if we're talking entire career, Aerosmith takes a big hit because of their 80s and 90s output and probably makes it a push....
re: Nearly 48 million tune in for Biden's SOTU speech
Only 27 million tuned in for Biden's speech last night
It says only 27 million people watched Biden's speech last year not last night.
It was probably less than that....
re: New Zach Bryan song "From Austin"
Posted by ThePenIsMightier on 3/2/22 at 1:48 pm
I thought it was through youtube, but whatever. He released a few songs that went viral. I thought some of his songs were really good and his lyrics were great at capturing feelings and are pretty insightful for his age. He's definitely a stark contrast to mainstream Nashville pop. I fell like he's ...

Some people say that New Orleans is actually the Northernmost point of the Caribbean.

re: Neil Young linked to Pfizer

Also, Neil Young tried and failed with the Pono music service several years ago. So, he's probably still a little salty about music streaming services in general....
re: What songs make you just break down and cry?

Red Sovine can always get me with his voice.
If you want to really test your limits, there's an album called A Crow Looked at Me by Mount Eerie. It's about the death of his wife from cancer and how he and his young daughter dealt with the experience. It's extremely dark and emotional....

re: Brief filed by FOP: Cops should be judged differently from civilians in use of force.

This cop basically went Leroy Jenkins on the guy. He shouted put down the gun four times in eleven seconds to a suicidal man. If I was in that situation and in that state of mind, I don't think I could physiologically comply to that demand....
re: Attempting to get into Classic Rock - Where do I start?
Posted by ThePenIsMightier on 1/20/22 at 9:27 am
