He is a great guitarist and has written a lot of excellent riffs and solos (Cherub Rock, Geek USA, Soma, Hummer...on and on with Siamese Dream, Zero, etc.).
I've always thought Jerry Cantrell was underrated as well. Overshadowed by Layne Stayley's vocals (which were amazing) and their vocal harmonies together, but Cantrell always had interesting , dark and very melodic and memorable guitar riffs and solos. He made Alice In Chains so versatile because he wrote really pretty acoustic stuff, but also wrote really heavy and dark electric stuff too that made them one of the biggest bands of the 90s.

Ran across this same video during covid. Favorite video to watch from time to time.They need to put this guy in the Austin city limits hall of fame. This was two years after the start of the show. Died in 1988.

Bugs Henderson was well known and liked in Texas. I had the live album of his with a phoenix on the cover. He wasn't widely known, so maybe not so much underrated as underappreciated.

Waylon Jennings. Waymore is surprisingly good and very underrated as a guitar player.
