Allen Collins/Gary Rossington. Leon Wilkeson was also and underrated bassist.

Neither Roy Clark, Jerry Reed, nor Chet Atkins could be considered underrated. They're all seen as three of the greatest guitarists of their genre and beyond.

My favorite thing about Chet Atkins is that you can go back and watch his old videos and realize he was sweep picking before that was "invented".

Nancy Wilson has a wide array of skills on the guitar, doesn't get a ton of credit though.

The player from the variety show era who may be forgotten is Jim Stafford. He was also a comedian/novelty act.
