Cutting back the field means less handle. Churchill ain't never doing that. I don't think it's necessarily the trips, it's many jocks don't have the patience, and are riding horses that have no business being there. That's why the point system sucks. Simply put, Japan has rich and powerful owners that buy studs and mares from all over the world. Also, their training regiment is vastly different from what Americans do. I will say this. Racing at Churchill Downs in the Kentucky Derby is vastly different than over there. Not that I'm saying is bad...
