Good one. Glen Campbell in that group.

Elliott Easton and Lindsey Buckingham are rated pretty high.

Does Prince count?
Prince is honestly overrated at this point. People have overblown that solo at GH’s tribute ad nauseam. And really in retrospect it was kind of a weird “look at me” thing to do at a tribute.

Not sure I agree he’s underrated. I think most know his ability to pick a guitar is top tier

I know he’s douchey, but John Mayer is often overlooked for being a monster player.

Good one.
I'll add David Hidalgo-Los Lobos

Roy clark.
Agree. I doubt there are many people under the age of 50 who even know who he is, much less that he was an amazing guitarist.
I’d add Roy’s buddy Chet Atkinson to the list of underrated guitarists as well.

RIP my former neighbor Pete Carr. He was a legendary studio guitarist who played lead on Bob Seger's Night Moves & Against the Wind albums, Paul Simon's Kodachrome & Still Crazy After All These Years, Rod Stewart's Tonights the Night, Barbara Streisand's Guilty album. Rolling Stone dubbed him the best studio guitarist in the country.
In the studio at his house, the wallpaper was a full panaramic view of the crowd from when he played lead for Simon & Garfunkel's HBO special Live at Central Park which at the time was the largest concert of all-time at 500k people. When you walked through the door, it was like walking out on the stage at the concert. It was awesome. Great times hanging out over there drinking & listening to a guy jam that's that supremely talented.

We should create a music board to discuss this stuff shouldn't we?
