Dave still sounded good and recorded a mostly forgotten gem with the band in 1996. It’s been pretty much downhill since.

Is there any live Van Halen that sounds good? All I’ve ever found has very weak sounding vocals that don’t keep up with the music.

With Dave, it’s hit or miss, mostly miss, IMO.
This is brilliant, minus the vocals. Should have released it as an instrumental.

This song is largely forgotten for messy Van Halen reasons. For me, it's one of their best songs. Everything Eddie does in this song is ridiculous.

I know Diamond Dave released some solo stuff (California Girls, Yankee Rose) but is his catalog enough for a show or does he pull out the VH stuff they released when he was with the band?

DLR and Van Halen were pretty good during their 2008 tour, but that was almost 20 years ago. The recent videos of him look like he’s performing in a nursing home talent show.

Van Halen holds a special place in my heart. They were my first favorite band as a kid. Realistically, what can we expect from DLR at his age? I wouldn't pay to go see him but there's a part of me that is happy he's still out there serving as a link to a bygone era. An era of bigger than life frontmen, loud guitars, fast cars, and girls in bikinis. Father time comes for us all, but DLR exists in a state of eternal summer.

I remember being very excited about new Roth/VH music at the time. Initial thoughts were ‘man it sounds like Dave is stretching his range to the max trying to outshine Sammy, and it sounds like shite.’ Haven’t heard this song in many years. Listening again, thoughts still the same, but Eddie sounded great as usual
