I didn’t like how the whole set up played out and then basically goes away for the most part. Munn’s narration was very monotone and like she was just reading lines.
I am not sure of the exact time frame from Paul’s body being discovered to the report showing 2 gunshots were postmortem, but it seemed like it took too long to get that info.
Next season it will be even more difficult to have any sympathy with Coop as at least his stealing here seemed out of desperation and being played by his boss including taking his capital account and influencing Coop’s prospective attorney which made it seem very sketchy and about something more regardless of Coop breaking a corporate rule. Throw in walking in on his wife getting boned by his friend and then those 2 being in a relationship around his kids all in the house he had to move out of due to his wife screwing someone else. The stealing was still wrong, but you could sense a chance at redemption for him coming after hitting some more lows.
After all that took place in season including his wife is no longer with his friend and Coop being closer to his family than he was for both the entire series and for awhile before series a redeemed Coop chooses crime again and ends what little sympathy one could muster for his situation. As part of his choice of crime again the dumbass parked his car in front of his boss’s house to steal the painting. He hasn’t turned into some criminal mastermind who is not going to continue to get into a ton of problems being a thief including causing problems with his family.
They could make the painting a one time only theft just to get back at his boss and Coop actually takes another flight to the meeting, and while seeing him already at the meeting when the other 2 walk up would have been a better ending it also ends the premise of the show.

Again, would have made for a better ending. I guess they are setting up season 2?
But I was rooting for the guy and it appears he got it all back at the end, only to skip out on the meeting and go steal that painting. Just doesn't make sense at that point.

I'm also mixed on the ending. It was a predictable, but solid twist. If they ended the series there it would be a typical Apple win and I wouldn't be devastated.
I'm just interested to see if the next season is a whole season of theft or there is another major shift - I just don't think a prolonged campaign of stealing from rich people is a good enough basis.
If I was writing S2E1, I'd have it open with Coop walking out as the others are walking into the meeting with the Swedes. As in, he's out on his own legitimately, and doing criminal shenanigans on the side. But TBH the whole theft part isn't that appealing to me in and of itself. I do like the connection with Elena and I think doing more bits on high-value things, watches, art, etc. will help (ie, sort of educational breakdowns of stuff in an entertaining way).

As some have said, I liked the twist with how Coop got off and Munn was behind it all the time, but I hated the overall end of him going back to stealing
I get that he gets a thrill from it and there’s sort of a mini-Breaking Bad thing, but as some have said, it’s not even close to sustainable. Folks will catch on pretty quickly
Not even that, but the deal he struck at some sort of high-end hedge firm or whatever they are for 25% of their total profits is batshit. We’re talking easily tens of millions of dollars annually. No one is passing that up to get a bit of a high stealing paintings and watches
It’s just never happening

I took the series as a whole to be a commentary on how he had lost his way chasing the corporate ladder.
He lost his wife, his kids and yes his stuff.
So going back to being a rat in the rat race, albeit a fatter rat, didn’t fit.
I agree him going to a lifetime solely of theft doesn’t work either but my expectation is that he sets up his own shop and then use’s revenge theft to settle grievances, get a high, and pay for some higher end expenses for his family ie things like contributing to his kids ridiculous overpriced school.
In spite of all his commentary on “seeing through it” Lu appropriately pointed out-he still drove a Maserati when he was “broke”

Apple TV just keeps putting out great shows. Great 1st season. This probably could have been a one season thing with the way they wrapped it up but season 2 will be fun.
This show may get ridiculous really fast but it is fun.

I wanted to like this show, and to a certain degree I did.
However, I also found it frustrating a bit. The Narrations from both Coop and Sam were terrible acting, they both just sounded like they were reading.
Almost none of the characters were likeable in any way. Just a lot of broken bitter people making unfathomable decisions.
Which leads to Coop, he should have been a much more sympathetic character but wasn't. None of his decisions make even the slightest bit of sense, especially the ending.
I will watch a Season 2 but I hope they improve upon some things

Just binged this based on this board
Wife and I loved it but some things did bug me
Hamm was such a bitch when he got arrested and never tried to sell his innocence. Would you be going around telling everyone someone planted a gun?
Also hated the ending and his decision. Nobody would do that
Also him running from the cops in the middle of the street. Really?
Gave it a A- I saw someone on here said we get to see Munne nude but I was very disappointed we didn’t see any tits this season.

That was my biggest negative too.

and he does that because he has some sort of epiphany that upper society is all bullshite, and everyone is fake, and no one really cares about anyone but themself? Ok, well, the truth is Coop is no better than them, and has no moral superiority to base his new found outlook on life. In fact, he's worse because he's a thief. He's just as big of an egocentric a-hole as the people he is trying to stick it to. Oh yeah, and his ex wife that he's still in love with is an entitled a-hole too, that cheats, and has violent psychotic episodes.
So yeah, it would have made a lot more sense if he had have just come to the realization that he is no different than his peers, and he should just slip back into his bubble, and be happy.
