It’s better than Squid Game IMO. But both are very good.

I thought so until the last two episodes like I said… it was sooooo messy.

And the lead guys acting after he was freed and explaining everything in front of the large group as annoying AF.

And what about the old man? Was he playing fair or were the games rigged in his favor for his safety? If so, he took a huge gamble with the tug of war game

It looked like he was the only one that wasn’t locked to the rope. I will try to get or find a screenshot

1-6 is definitely fricking amazing television. I agree the last few episodes just felt dragged out. Especially the last. Still a great show with a cool message. Binged the hell out of it.

Still not a perfect show by any means. I agree with a lot of people that some of it dragged. Like the parts where there weren’t games or we weren’t with the cop or doctor. But those moments were necessary to make you feel a certain way about each character. I appreciate the attempts to make you care for each and every one of them and they mostly succeed. Episode 6 absolutely destroyed me and should go up for some awards. Brilliant and devastating episode.

Did anyone that watched the show NOT use a Won to USD conversion at least once?

Yeah, I established early on that 10k won was about $8.

Ultimately, they were playing for about $37.5M, IIRC.

Finally catching up after completing the season last night, so I was avoiding this thread.

Anyone else think of Jeffrey Epstein, Jean-Luc Brunel, Peter Nygard and that whole crew probably doing stuff like this for amusement?

I liked the progression of the games.

Red Light, Green Light was great at setting the tone for the players and predictably (for the organizers) weeding out at least half.

Once the stakes were established, the second game forced each individual player to feel like they're on an island all by themselves, psychologically draining no doubt.

Then the third and fourth game progression was genius, building up a team mentality through tug-of-war only to have it backfire when selecting partners for the marbles game. Also, these games guaranteed only half would advance to the fifth game.

I believe the bridge game was set up to have only a few players survive for the final squid game; they could have adjusted the rows of glass squares to almost guarantee at least a few would make it across but no more than 4 or so. I do wonder though if they really would have destroyed all the glass squares if the last 2-4 players were still on there, which would have ended the game.

Was it ever confirmed through communication of the rules that only one player could win the games? I don't recall hearing it...I assumed that all remaining players that finished the games would split the money. Certainly the last game, squid game, could accommodate that scenario, i.e., team offense or team defense would win with multiple players. But looking at the annual results in the archives it looked like there was only one winner listed per year.

One more thing, one of the VIPs mentioned that the "Korea games were the best this year". Pretty sure that implied that these types of games were going on in other countries?

I kept wondering if he was just going to give all his money away, so glad that didn’t happen I would be pissed.

Then he’s surprised to know they’re following him? Seems like that works be obvious, if you want to be done with these guys then go to America and start a new life.
I was dozing off during this, and am quite confused. Questions. So, he knows he's rich, but won't use the money? He asked for a loan? Why?

Also, when annoying OK chick doesn't find a partner and is carried off, why do they let her live?

The Chinese lady explains when everyone returns from the marbles game that she was escorted back to the dorm because of a rule that prevents the last one picked from being bullied.

Correct I believe it’s out of some sense of guilt over the fact he defeated therefore guaranteed the deaths of 475 people to get the money.

It’s all ridiculous though, how would he not at least pay off his debts and things like that?

Yea I feel like that was one of those things thrown in in case they want to expand the universe but easily could just never bring it up again if they don’t.

I really did like the show I just hate how the main character acted towards the last few episodes. In the beginning he was a sympathetic figure who you wanted to succeed to make things right with his mom and daughter, he also showed some intelligence and skill in the games and building relationships.

In the last several episodes he’s just a pathetic waste who gets completely lucky and constantly bailed out by other players without actually doing anything intelligent himself. Even choosing the #16 he would’ve chosen #1 if the guy hadn’t asked him for it. Then he’s going to end the game and not take the money all to save a guy who’s
A. Probably going to die anyway

B. He watched kill at least two other people for the money, one he was close to, and he was just trying to kill a few seconds ago

Sure didn’t seem to give a shite about his daughter or mom in that moment.

Then he wins, won’t use the money, seemingly goes back to being a waste of space, then does the right thing with the orphan kid but bails on his own daughter. I don’t see how he’s going to take down this group without a shite load of help from the cop guy, I guess they can try and round up other past players or employees?

Also if he just took all this information to the cops and showed them his bank account and listed out the names of some of the dead people who must be missing persons, are they really not going to take him seriously? Hell he even knows the name of the dude who created the game now.

Really enjoyed the show.

I saw the VIP's masks/helmets sitting on the ledge at the end of the episode. Did they leave or were they killed?

well thats possible i guess to have multiple winners. but its most likely they would have just picked a game where the could only be 1 winner

Why would they kill the VIPs? They said the Korean games were the best letting us in on the idea they do this in other places, too and the VIPs are who fund the games. The masks were probably left behind to be used again at the next game.

I disagree. It made him more sympathetic IMO.

A) His mom was dead by the time he got back.

B) the brother of the girl was easily accessible

C) He was on his way to go to his daughter before fate intervened, and he realized there was something at play that was bigger than him, that would cost people everything all for money. He didn’t know the games would continue past the old mans death, so he wasn’t forced to deal with the decision until that very moment. He also didn’t have a way back in until fate intervened.

The money left him more hollow than he ever imagined possible as the winner. No one wins. Not even the winner. That saving everyone from the Squid Game was a sacrifice he was willing to make. It was a very selfless act.

Because they already got their money after games finished. And what keeps the VIP’s from running their mouths about what they saw when they get back to states or wherever they live? Just seems like a liability.

There’s got to be thousands of VIP’s. Use masks for next group of guys who they fly in.

There’s no way they kill the VIPs. Why would VIPs going missing not hit the radar. They have connections and money. I think they think that scene was meant more to show us that the games will go forward again next year.

The show wasn’t perfect. I almost gave up because it started so slow. But it had real protagonists/antagonists by the end of the show.

The most glaring plot hole to me is why didn’t the dude who lost just stand on the last platform in game 5 until 1 second was left and jump? The other two had about 6-7 seconds to figure out what was going on, and even if they did, he still advances if he bails sooner knowing that he had to kill them anyways.
