Just finished it. So much symbolism to unpack.

The most glaring plot hole to me is why didn’t the dude who lost just stand on the last platform in game 5 until 1 second was left and jump? The other two had about 6-7 seconds to figure out what was going on, and even if they did, he still advances if he bails sooner knowing that he had to kill them anyways.
you missed the part where players could throw each other off, thats the problem with bottlenecking the glass bridge. if people behind you are going to die if you dont move they dont really have anything to lose trying to get you to move if you are bottlenecking....we saw it earlier in that same game.

quote:Just finished it last night, and pretty much how I feel. WAY too much slow motion was used (e.g. in the 1st game sequence). The finale felt forced.
1-6 is definitely fricking amazing television. I agree the last few episodes just felt dragged out. Especially the last. Still a great show with a cool message. Binged the hell out of it.
Still not a perfect show by any means. I agree with a lot of people that some of it dragged. Like the parts where there weren’t games or we weren’t with the cop or doctor. But those moments were necessary to make you feel a certain way about each character. I appreciate the attempts to make you care for each and every one of them and they mostly succeed. Episode 6 absolutely destroyed me and should go up for some awards. Brilliant and devastating episode.
Maybe this was mentioned, but my biggest pet peeve was this: WTF was everyone except the front man using revolvers? Are Korean police in 2021 really still using revolvers? I really hated this aspect of it.

quote:Right. It was dumb to introduce a game that had so much more randomness that late in the competition.
The glass bridge episode was sort of stupid. The games so far have been at least winnable. The bridge one is basically impossible for anyone other than a few people to win.

Seems like we can all search for SG memes if we wanted to see those. Do you have anything else to add?

should have put Brian Williams in there. Ot Lootie.

Indeed.

Good one. Everybody's losing their mind over the Steve Harvey pic, so that was what sent me down the meme rabbit hole.

So I just watched this over the weekend. I watched the version without subtitles mostly due to the fact I didn’t feel like figuring out how to change it to show them.
I can only hope it’s much better with the subtitles. The voice acting was over the top bad and when combined w an atrocious script for some scenes, I hated trudging through it.
I mainly wanted to see the games, obviously. The loud obnoxious lady was so unrealistic in pretty much every way that I almost had to quit the show.
So many plot holes and unexplained/unresolved narratives i don’t know where to start.
That said, overall I liked the show but would say 3.75/5. I could easily be convinced to rate it lower, but the marble episode was extremely well done. I also like the overall originality and production value and was entertained.
I wish there was more screen time for the “other” girl who played marbles. She was smoke.
Sounds like I’ll need to check out AiB.

definitely could have used more of the two who played the marble game and less of the crazy old whore.

Binged this over the last two nights, pleasantly surprised.
One of the biggest hurdles for me to overcome was the crappy v/o's. Is there a genre of voice actors and specific recording technique called "crappy Asian overlay" or something? Another was the tropes and over-acting of some characters (tropes were the mafia guy and old man... to an extent, over-acting was the crazy chick).
These combined at times to make it difficult to stay in the scene, but even then you could see the overall concept and execution had seeds of greatness throughout.
The revelation of Red Light, Green Light was brilliant (adding in the money drop after makes it even better as you can see the various characters trying to understand where their morals lie between the mass murder they just survived and the potential for winning an insane amount of money), the marble game stories were incredible and the way their eventual return to the game made sense (at least for those who returned) were all extremely well done.
The only problem I had with any of the games was the bridge. My first thought was to spider or tight-rope your way down using the two inner rails holding the panes.
Even if you going from pane to pane was mandatory just standing on the parts of the pane under the rails would have allowed a person to stay up and finish the course (the elimination wasn't that a pane cracked, but that the player fell through it).
Sorry if that's already been discussed, didn't read the whole thread.
I think I would rather the series been a 1-shot season instead of having Seong-gi and his Wendy's hairdo chasing after them in a future season. A big part of the fun of this series was the unknown aspect of the games.
The rich elite had too much screentime (and were shitty tropes), they should have remained at least a bit aloof (if not outright silent and mysterious).
The old man was a nice swerve. I thought his enjoyment at the beginning was odd but chalked it up to dementia and then (once it was revealed) his tumor. The pissing himself and just-off-camera "death" (the camera angling and timing on that was fricking fantastic) were just enough to keep taking the wind out of anytime I would begin to suspect he was somehow involved.
I would love to see this story come back in a decade or so, but with a bit more polish on character development for some of the characters.

Infinitely so. Seriously, reading subtitles can get annoying sometimes but at least you can get a true feel of the characters and emotions. The dubbed audio is completely awful.
