Thanks for all the great information. I’m in Lillian Alabama fishing Perdido River and out into the bay.

Trolling for trout

Posted by Palmetto08 on 1/17/26 at 1:55 pm
Any of you guys slow troll for specks this time of year? If so what are you trolling with? Ive only done it a few time but the past week I’ve seen see a few boats slow trolling in the creeks and mouths of bay having decent success.

Thanks for your time!

The Ragin Cajuns are 2.5 point favorites.

2023 was the last season it was hosted on campus.

The expanded structure of the College Football Playoff will feature 12 teams, with the first round games being hosted on college campuses. Should either Alabama or Auburn be eligible to host a first-round contest, the AHSAA Super 7 would interfere with the field conditions of both schools, as well as the championship site rotation.

Birmingham will host in 2025 and 2027 and Mobile in 2026 and 2028.
All games played at Protective Stadium in Birmingham. Games will be moving to Mobile next year.

Actually, he's only gotten two 5 stars at Mizzou and his is recruiting classes have been in the middle of the pack in the SEC. Not terrible but not great

Are people really mad that the United States will no longer be hosting world leaders and esteemed guests in rented tents on the White House lawn?

We're going from this:

Awesome video and Bama fans were all fantastic. The hospitality shown to these Brits was through the roof!

Thanks for posting. Cool video and great hospitality shown by everyone in Tuscaloosa!
Bama and I expect to hear this again in a blacked-out Sanford Stadium

LA Lighting are you Pete Sapper??

The influx of Yankee kids to Tuscaloosa in the past fifteen years has ruined the University. Miss the days of 18,000 southern kids looking and acting like southern kids.
Last week the announcers were saying "if we can start winning series and get to .500 by the All Star break that will be good".

Yesterday it was "if we can start winning series and get a few games under .500 by the All Star break that will be good"

We have 12 games left before the All Star break

Pros: Crowds aren't as bad as June/July

Cons: It's damn hot

The wife and I will be in Perdido Key next week for our wedding anniversary. Any restaurants worth trying for dinner one night?

Make a reservation for upstairs at Shipp's at Orange Beach marina. It used to be Fisher's. Good food and nice atmosphere. Lower deck good spot for lunch or a casual meal.

You shut the strip down and trash will start seeping into the fraternity houses and nicer downtown bars.

its going to be a track meet tonight.

Yeah it is! And both benches are strong so when starters go out, the scoring should continue. Alabama ranks 6th in bench scoring and BYU ranks 14th.

I agree. Good news is BYU ranks 277th in 3pt shooting defense (35%) so hopefully we'll have a good night.

How is the Venetian pool? We rented a day bed in June. Looks like a good pool area.

re: WR Jack Bech Senior Bowl MVP!

Posted by Palmetto08 on 2/3/25 at 8:32 am to
Bech was wearing his brother's #7. There was 7 seconds on the clock and the pass was thrown by a Memphis Tiger.

Awesome ending all the way around!

Did the excitement levels taper off as you won more and more? Or, was it the same level of hype in 2020 as it was in 2009? I know this probably varies from person to person.

I had four head coaches during my 4 years at Bama. The best bowl game I went to was the Independance Bowl against Iowa State. I can't tell you how many times I walked out of Bryant Denny after watching us lose.

The excitement level never tapered off for me. I savored every single championship game (win or loss) after dealing with an absolute dumpster fire from '99-'03. The Rose Bowl against Texas was the best but our last championship was just as good. Hell, the Rose Bowl vs Michigan was awesome as I took the whole family out there and made a vacation out of it. Loss sucked but was a great game.
Not to dissuade you, but the only remaining parking is about .8 miles from the stadium on the far east side of campus. You can shuttle or make the long walk. Traffic is also going to be a mess right before kickoff.

The stadium is really nice and not a bad seat in the place. Gameday is fun seeing all the different fans and tailgating stuff. Weather looks awesome too. Just be aware of the parking situation.

How's the fan split around the city? I'm guessing a ton of ND fans flew back today...

"Renovations underway for over a year now are nearing completion and staff is now being hired for a new Cajun seafood restaurant called 'Kingfisher Seafood Restaurant' at 805 S. Mobile Street, where Wintzell's once operated for many years.

Tyler Hood, one of the owners of the 'Chimes' chain of restaurants in Louisiana, purchased the property in 2021 -- but then had to deal with lingering Covid19 pandemic issues before renovations could begin last year.

General Manager Megan Aucoin says it will be casual/family type dining with other than seafood offered (wings, sandwiches, etc.); 54 taps for wine and beer are being installed too, she said. No specific opening date has been set yet."
