re: Is Brunson better than Luka?

Sure, he's the better finisher
59/62/93 splits in the 4th quarter of the entire postseason is not “better finisher”. It’s historic.

Brunson's a great player but Luka is more impactful when he's healthy and motivated.
I’ll take the leagues most elite assassin who won a title and disagree. It’s such an advantage to have a weapon like that when the pressure is the highest.
I don’t think it’s close. One of the two is an NBA champion. The other got to a Finals and disappeared. 47/24/58 5.6/4.6 AST/TO disappeared. Those SAS guards can play defense too with that BOS duo. Ask SGA.

My strategy is mainly buying boxes because hits are bigger when you buy a lot of boxes vs singles. For instance I pulled Yamamoto's /1 Rookie Sapphire Auto that sold for a lot more than what Ive gained on singles. I have around 10 pulls like that which close the gap on losses and you eventually figure out what to buy and what sets to invest in. It all starts balancing out when you figure out how to play each corner of the market. Breaks vs Hobby Shops vs Singles.
If a diehard is collecting a sport they follow religiously, I vehemently disagree that boxes/breaks > singles on the whole. It’s still gambling and for every person that hits a big card spending, another loses their arse. The prices on the cards do reflect the box costs, so that’s helpful, but anytime one can avoid gambling in favor of knowledge, one should. Coming from someone who wouldn’t complain about break luck recently.
There’s a few things that should be considered if breaking/ripping:
1) Draft Class - breaking weak drafts is one of fastest ways to lose. Breaking strong drafts just continuously pays off down the line as they develop.
2) Set Popularity - Topps Chrome, Bowman, Prizm etc >> all the misc stuff and new sets. Hold value best long term
3) Type of Box - retail vs hobby vs jumbo etc. Retail odds suck vs Hobby, which for a lot of people means breaking.
I could go on. The best part of ripping/breaking is entertainment value and a chance at hitting a huge card you’d never drop $$$$ on. I’ve personally been really pleased with the 225 guys and so has my friend. They hit big cards, tend to be more reasonably priced (on eBay live at least, haven’t broken elsewhere since returning), and are way less annoying about schilling BS prices and pretending nothing hits are big. If you’re local, any huge hits can be picked up instead of going through USPS system too.

For just beginning, eBay and PWE is the best for under $10 probably. It’s better to just move the stuff quickly and eat the fees, especially on the middle tier rookies you know nothing about whose usage is questionable. You miss on them not improving or getting leap frogged on depth charts and those cards depreciate with the quickness. Leverage some of that money into buying/investing on bigger players you believe in outside of your normal ripping and breaking, which is now better funded.
It’s a little bit of work listing the dang things, printing labels, packing the stuff, shipping it out in a timely manner. Once you get a groove with it, you’ll have some actual income coming in and you’ll probably learn to just stay on top of it. It won’t hurt so much to play too.
At the end of the day, it is essentially the “Athlete Stock Market”. The speed and visibility on eBay makes up for the fees imo on the smaller stuff.
Whatnot and FanaticsCollect are alternatives I’ll be looking into soon as well. The amount of money ebay makes just pisses me off, though I appreciate how easy it is to use and how many people use it. It ends up being like 15% cause they take fees on the taxes too.
The fee does at least drop to 2.35% over $7500, but it’s absurd.
ETA: poster above me mentioned something I forgot to mention. Be overly honest on the card condition. Try to get the best pictures possible as well btw. People are ridiculous about that stuff. The better your description, the more likely the sale I find as well, which unfortunately means learning terms for refractors/prizms etc.

re: Clay Travis offers WNBA $10m if they can beat a boys HS title team of his choosing

If Travis had any balls he'd make the offer for a randomly drawn high school 4A team. Yeah no shite the IMG academy of future pro basketball players will beat a WNBA team.
I don’t think people realize there are HS all star teams littered throughout the country. Also, these “kids” are so much more prepared for high level ball these days.
$10 million dollars isn’t a lot of money for a league to risk a public humiliation of its entire livelihood and reputation.
You’re right. If he wants to handpick the team, the price goes way up. It makes the idea ridiculous, and he may very well be doing this knowing it’d never happen.
Your idea is solid. Give him a random class and random team for $10 million.

My friend had the idea to just sit Embiid for the entire regular season. As crazy as it sounds, it’s kind of genius. Embiid is healthy for the playoffs with less mileage. If I’m an away team ticket holder, I’d rather watch the Maxey/Edgecombe/Brown show than them feed Embiid in the post.

That’s my point. I worded poorly. Point Queen would have feasted with those 4 around him. You have a closer at the end of games now.
I have to imagine Murphy may be on the move, because we are obviously not trying to win now if that was the price.

I have a hard time believing Boston prefers this package to a Murray/Herb/2 1sts package.
Fears/brown/murphy/zion/queen would have been wild to see.

Someone needs to check on Bill Simmons. This was botched hilariously by Boston.

I don’t know why you’re getting downvoted so much personally. I’m not in the “Trade TM3” camp, but this is the first trade that makes some sense for us if I’m reading that Orlando pick right (unprotected 2028 Orlando). And one I could see the other teams doing with their current situations playing out.
- could be lottery ticket draft pick? Check
- Immediate prospects? Check
- a low floor/high ceiling scoring prospect? Check
- more in line with current timeline? Check
ETA: I think Portland would have to compensate in place of the Cenac spot somehow, this is a tough pill for Boston even with Brown’s depressed market.

Between this and the Rowing at the games, Norwegians are comfortably in the lead for most entertaining WC fans.
re: Shams Bomb: LaMelo Ball traded to Minny for Naz Reid/Picks
Posted by ShamelessPel on 6/25/26 at 9:27 am to QJenk
If they can get Lamelo to be a pass first PG, this could be interesting. Hard to tell what his game could be on a team with coaching/leadership with him in CHA with a bunch of other chuckers and low IQ players.

Zion can still get up. We saw it last year when he wanted to. The wear and tear on his knees/joints from jumping and landing at his weight is probably the reason you don’t see him do it as often anymore. Which, unless we are actually winning, is probably ideal for both him and the team.
re: Zion’s jumper is looking good
Posted by ShamelessPel on 6/24/26 at 5:14 pm to Soggymoss
Zion’s in game jumpers are nearly practice shots with the space he’s given. This needs to translate. If they have to guard him on the perimeter, he turns into a completely different player.
re: Trey "signals" he wants to be traded

When you take a less than market value contract to help the team compete and they win 25 games, this is the consequence. Cant blame TM3.

Any team will gladly allow that incredible trio of Mitchell, Wiggins, and Powell to shoot 3s all game. And that spacing between Bam and Giannis? Amazing. That roster is mediocre as shite right now, just admit it. That isn’t a contender.
They’re better than they were yesterday. They traded quarters for a dollar, and were stuck in roster purgatory. They woulda waltzed into next year with another 40 win team and Ware as the only legit prospect. What’s the complaint here for MIA? It was reset or go get a name.
6 threes on 15.3 attempts a game from those 3. That’s not low volume and anything hovering around 40% is very good. And that’s ignoring Bobby Portis’ 2nd in NBA 45%. Throw his in there and it’s 8 on 19.7, which gets you above 40%…
There are flaws in ball handling, play making, and scoring depth, but saying they can’t shoot is not one of them.
Herro is not a playoff basketball player. He’s soft and he hasn’t played well in a postseason since his rookie year.
