She passed the trials with her literal trial for the bombing. The council were going to promote her to Knight when she rejoined the order, but she refused the offer. In my mind, she earned it but didn’t do the paperwork.

Yeah, I'm with you. The Jedi Council may have never officially "stamped" her promotion to Jedi Knight, but for all intents and purposes she's was as much of a Jedi Knight following that trial as anyone could be. Heck, she was revived by the spirit of the Daughter (was basically the avatar for the light side of the force/Jedi), and she had the insight to realize that the Jedi had lost their way, which was far more that the other Jedi Knights had.

And now there is no more Jedi Council to decide who is and who isn't a Jedi Knight. You only have Luke trying to reform the order, and I'm sure (after seeing the Boba Fett episode) that Ahsoka counseled/advised him on how best to go about it. So if anyone has the right to claim the title of Jedi Knight at this point in time of the Star Wars universe, it's Ahsoka.

But even dealing with her past, I don't know if we should get caught up on whether or not it is right for Star Wars to label her as a former Jedi Knight. That's really just splitting hairs at this point imo.

For what it’s worth the Emperor did an identical move when Vader brought Luke to him in cuffs. Odd thing to gripe about.

I found this page that kind of theorizes on Sabine's force-sensitivity: LINK

This exert from that article kind of explains how the force works:
quote:
quote:

In 2015 Dave Filoni further explained this idea when he said everyone is Force-intuitive. As an example of what that means practically, he pointed to Han Solo. What Han called “luck” while flying was him “tapping” into the Force unconsciously. Turns out you don’t survive an asteroid field on just luck and skill alone, because everyone can use the Force. They simply can never be as adept or as powerful doing so as a Force-sensitive, high midi-chlorian count individual.

I have always hated the fact George introduced midi-chlorians as the measure of people's force-sensitivity. But my guess is that Sabine has a fairly low midi-chlorian count as compared to most Jedi, but maybe a bit more than your average person. At least that is how I'm interpreting it right now.
Ok, so that can go back to Sabine's artistry and engineering (I assume, as again, I didn't watch Rebels).

She may have low midichlorians or whatever, and thus less natural ability to 'feel the Force' directly; but she's got high aptitude in stuff that would overlap; thus she'd be able to sense it indirectly. Like the deaf guy who can pick up a bass rhythm, or the mathematician who can look at a classical music composition and see the pattern and structure that Mozart employed.

Which is still more awareness than most people. And that, combined with Mandalorian martial training, would make her pretty damn competent with a lightsaber. She may be better skilled with a blade than the average Jedi, but lack the full precognitive abilities they have to parry. But she could still 'sorta' sense it.

What was ruined in ep. 1?

Not saying you have to like it, but what exactly are you taking offense to?

I’ve read all these Sabine and the force posts. Maybe Ahsoka just wanted a highly skilled fighter at her side, force ability or not. Maybe it’s not as deep as folks are making it.

Anyway, very happy with the first 2 episodes. I do agree with others that Hera didn’t quite click as well as the other characters, hopefully it comes around.

Looks great visually, villains look amazing, story looks good. I had extremely high hopes and not disappointed so far.

This is already better than Boba, Mando and Obi Wan.

Wait....what?

Sabine says that in the epilogue at the end of rebels.

Pretty good so far. I enjoyed both episodes. The actress who played Hera missed the mark. Cokes off as Disney channel Friday night movie level. Everything else has been great. Interested to see this story converge with others and the final showdown with Thrawn.

Hera looks too young to be a surrogate mother to Sabine, imo

For sure so far, but Boba and Obi are a low bar. Mando swings wildly from peak to valley.

Shitty Star Wars doesn’t ruin my day or anything, I appreciate the good and forget about the bad. BUT Obi-Wan was such a massive disappointment, just fcked from the start. It wasn’t because they were cheap, it was just absolutely awful writing. That’s been the problem with Disney… for every Andor, there’s an Obi-Wan.

I thought Andor was a dumb premise for the obvious reasons of knowing the ending, yet it’s the best Star Wars we’ve gotten in 40+ years.

I honestly wonder if it's the makeup- her face just doesn't feel right.

Yeah, look at the photo. The colors are too loud. Everything needs to be muted down about 50%, especially the eyes and lips.

I mean, look at this

In the animated show, her skin is olive, her lips are tan, and her eyes are more green.
Live, she's lime green, with RED-red lips, and those eyes are so blue they glow in the dark.

And they should have done some heavier eye liner, to hide the redness in her lacrimals and such. Because it just doesn't look natural.

I have come to the conclusion that I am a fan of Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, and Mark Hamill and the characters they created rather than the Star Wars universe itself. And that I loved the original star Wars trilogy largely because of them and the role they played in my childhood.

So the newer stuff doesn't interest me. I am not going to bash it though just because it isn't my thing. More power to you if you are into it.

However, I do think alot of people are bitter about how Disney treated the original cast and characters and are lashing out whenever they release something new. If Disney had handled the Last Jedi differently than much of the current backlash could have been avoided.

You could say that about many of Disney's projects lately.

Idk where you got this photo but she is not that bright of a green in the show.

Im watching the second episode right now and she’s much closer to that rebels shade than she is to that loud green in the first image.

I'm wrong that I don't trust the opinion of someone who posted "saw both episodes and they both sucked" a full day before the episodes dropped?

Your comment and the other posters appeared to say that ALL criticism of the show was from people who had “a clear agenda” or couldn’t be pleased.

I thought it was pretty clear from my comment that I was agreeing with you that while a significant amount of critical comments were motivated by such, not all of it was.

quote:

Yes, I think there are some people who simply can’t be pleased or simply like to complain. Yes, there are also far too many people who do have a clear agenda and will make negative comments because of it. But to dismiss any criticism of the show simply because those two groups exist is equally as bad as what those two groups do.

Eta: Sorry for the confusion.

it was the first one you see when you google "hera syndulla"
It's on CBR.com
https://www.cbr.com/ahsoka-mary-elizabeth-winstead-hera-live-action-debut/

look here, also (it won't let me copy the photo link)
https://disney.fandom.com/wiki/Hera_Syndulla

That's disney's link.

Here's wookipedia
https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Hera_Syndulla

I like the show, so I'm not trying to attack anything
but I've noticed a couple times, the character just looks too bright.

Here's another screencap, this time from
https://www.vidaextra.com/series/ahsoka-sera-continuacion-directa-series-animadas-exitosas-franquicia-eso-dice-su-protagonista

Ahsoka mostly works, even though she's orange, because things seem to be similar. Her lips aren't that different than her facial tones.

Hera- skin is lime green, lips are as red as the walls in the background (or the rebel patch on her jacket), and her eyes are jumping out blue.

I think the biggest issue might be that they chose colors that don't work together, there's just too much contrast. None of the pictures from the animated show has her lips a strawberry red, they always seem to match her skintone.
It's distracting here.

I enjoyed it but I don’t understand why they made Sabine look like a Glamour Shots customer. Seems out of character for her to care what she looks like or to spend time each day meticulously applying make-up to her face.
