I went into Andor with low expectations and was pleasantly surprised.
Same with Ashoka, after episode 1, I was pleasantly surprised and so much you can do with this series going forward. I have not watched any of the animated series with Thrawn and Ashoka so all this is new to me.

Is this a mini series or if well received will there be more seasons?

A slow but welcomed start. The core 3 actresses are solid.

This show is already teaching me a lot about new things in Star Wars and that’s a win.

It’s a full series. It will work in tandem with new seasons of Mando and the new show Skeleton Crew to set up a movie directed by Filoni.

If Rex is alive, he’s either retired or has a desk job in the New Republic military. He’d be 84+ years old physically, unless they found a way to stunt his accelerated growth after Rebels ended. And that’d still put him at 73+.

He was healthy enough to fight on Endor which was only five years prior to the series.

Yeah. They forgave Barriss for the bombing (wtf lol) and she eventually got killed in order 66.

I have no real guesses on the inquisitor. Wild guess - Kenobi and Satine’s love child Korkie

Additional comment: Governor Azadi was cast perfectly.

Same guy who voiced him in Rebels

We just came off a season of the Bo Katan Power Hour in the Mandalorian if you need prior, recent, evidence of the trend I’m referencing

Bo Kattan's presence makes a hell of a lot more sense after watching Rebels. That's just me though.

Thrawn is maybe my favorite big SW baddie behind Vader. He's terrifying.

Scratch that. It’s Hondo in deep cover to get Ezra back.

More Disney SW garbage. What is up with the obsession of secret maps? They’re using a ridiculous macguffin all over again just like in TRoS
Tired. Lame. Mailing it in. FFF, let the AI programs win!!
Reminds me of the end of Hunt for Red October. Where the Soviet Ambassador is sheepishly asking for help in finding the second lost sub. Here we go again.

Just watched both episodes. I've read through the thread so I know that I'm parroting some of what has already been said.

Loved seeing the cartoon/cgi--->real life/cgi for things we had seen in Rebels - especially Lothal, the highway, comms tower, and the Phantom.

I think the costume work is great, again it looks like the cartoon brought to life. I think the only thing that took a little getting used to was ME Winstead's voice as Hera. Not that it was bad, just not the voice I we were used to.

I liked how to get the map ball, Ahsoka had to deal with the figures, like how Ezra had to arrange the Mortis gods in the mural to access the World Between Worlds.

Not liking Sabine being Force sensitive. You would think that Kanan would have noticed it, and really what purpose does it serve? She is known to be a skilled fighter and can handle the dark saber, but she doesn't need to be Force sensitive.

With Elsbeth being a Dathomir Witch, do we come full circle and see her ride a rancor?

No her last mention in cannon was she was imprisoned after the bombing. Her Order 66/ Jedi Purge date has not been revealed.

In Legends she was killed on Kashyyyk during Order 66 alongside Luminara Unduli in the ROTS comic adaptation. After she was revealed as the temple bomber in clone wars that death was retconned, and she was killed on Felucia.

I like most of the characters and actors, and I know it continues a story from a previous series, but I will give some credence to the overrepresented female character thing.

Of the main characters, protagonist and antagonist presented so far, there’s one male, an antagonist who has a few scenes here and there. Droids and costumed characters with no lines don’t count.
There's still 2 male main characters who haven't made an appearance yet....Ezra (who's a Jedi) and Thrawn (who will be the big bad guy of this series and possibly beyond)

ETA: and maybe Zeb. I didn't see him in any of the Ahsoka trailers but he was a main character in the Rebels crew and made a cameo in Mando S3, so I wouldn't be surprised if he joined the search for Ezra and Thrawn

I have the same issue that I had with TFA. Who made the map?

It's implied that this map is thousands of years old, so how does a thousand year old map know how to find Thrawn? Do they already know where Thrawn is but are just not sure how to get there? It's not explained at all.

I get it, I really do. I guess I just don’t have as a dogmatic view of the force. I don’t see it as an either all or nothing deal. It resides in everybody, but on a different sliding scale as far as potential. If not then anybody could be as strong as Yoda. There’s levels.

Take Chirrut in RO. To say he’s not force sensitive is insane. Maybe not on a full blown Jedi knights level, but come on, the guy def is in tune with it.

When training with the dark saber, Kanan noticed Sabine getting in tune with the crystal. She had/has the ability to focus her mind to connect with it which is how she could wield it Jedi like. I don’t think she will ever have the ability to move rocks or pick locks with her mind, (god I hope not)but does have the sensitivity enough to tap into the force for combat like Chirrut. Just makes things a little more interesting IMHO.

I think she exhibited some low level force sensitivity in Rebels, particularly in the way she moved and a couple of times later in the series. One example that came to mind was when they were dealing with the reactor/weapon she built for the Empire as a recruit. There’s a moment when it appears like she force pushes the energy away from herself (from the reactor). It’s so subtle that I wouldn’t have picked up on it if I wasn’t looking for instances in retrospect.

Or when she was first training with the dark saber with Kanan. The angrier she got the more she channeled that energy.

She great in combat but it feels like she has a little extra something her Mandalorian counterparts don’t have.
