Best episode by far. I told myself at the start of the episode that if the Stranger really was Sauron I’d stop watching. That would’ve been way too far from the source material to me. As soon as Halbrand started giving suggestions to Celebrimbor, I knew.
I thought the same. I was like nah he can’t be it even though I thought so at the beginning of the series.

What I said is exactly what you said. A kindred spirit, who can not ultimately threaten him. She's an elf, and he's a Maia. He's an order of magnitude above her.
Agree here.

He tries to appeal to what he thinks would work (the ambition she's known, written, to have), and on his part she would make quite the trophy. At his side, she would rule over Middle Earth (not just Lorien later), and the Elves and Men would fall in line easier with her being part of the deal. He might be bullshitting, or he might be making a calculated judgement call. But either way, she doesn't go for it.
Fwiw, there is that line stated in LOTR, while she is showing Frodo the Fountain. She says that Sauron is ever seeking to see her, but while she has her ring and he doesn't have the One, he cannot. It's a bit of a throwaway, and we take it to mean he is searching for the Wise.
His emissaries make all sorts of promises to Dale and Erebor, so bullshite isn't something he's above.
I agree in regards to everything you said about Halbrand/Sauron, but this show makes her no different than him in regards to ambition and arrogance. She is actually more arrogant and had a moment to show she is growing as an individual but allowed her pride once more to guide her to not admit she just screwed all of Middle Earth.
I have no issue with Amazon making Galadriel the hero of this version and of the SA but the series has not done her any justice in that regards. A big miss on their part.

quote:while that makes a good bit of sense, the mark in ep 1 would not freeze. That seems to be a skill level above him.
I guess it was Adar leaving the markings / “map” to Mordor? That at least makes more sense as he was seemingly trying to save the orcs and give them a home
quote:Yeah, that's his arse. He turned on his master, and didn't get the job done.
I think Adar was honest about his goals, and that he’s now headed for a reckoning.
All he wanted was a nice overcast place in a temperate land, for his orc children to be able to go outside during the day
Would have been interesting to see what Adar's ultimate plan would have looked like, whether the orcs would have simply died off, or if they would have could have evolved into some sort of warrior culture after several generations. If they propagate, would have been curious to see if Adar could have bred the extreme photosensitivity out, and made them somewhat civilized.
No, never to the point that they'd be a likeable race or kingdom, but maybe a strong, live-and-let-live people that would have been an asset for future kingdoms to ally with, during times of potential war.

So do you want to clarify what the frick that was?
Cause it sure looked an awful lot like a list of Russia talking points about Elon

No Harfoots, and tying stories together better the show isn't half bad. The harfoots are awful. LOTR made you care about the characters, just don't feel that with this show.

Maybe I am just unaware of some lore of how wizards are plopped down in middle earth without knowledge of who they are and need some good presence or something.
They came over in boats from Valinor in reality

Most everyone who went into it with an open mind think it’s a decent enough show with a number of faults.
I'm just one person but I didn't read anything about this show before it came out and I thought it was trash

Amazon invested a ton - I look forward to 4 more potential seasons.

This show had moments and did a few things well but overall I just found it to be incredibly boring. The Harfoots absolutely killed the pacing of the show and completely fragmented it. If you remove them altogether it might have been decent.

5/10. Didn’t hate it, loved some stuff, but the entire season felt like a prologue.
Pretty much my thoughts exactly. I'll watch season 2 for sure, wasn't blown away by this season by any means, but there is promise there.

This show is red hot shite. I’m a huge Tolkien fan and really enjoyed LOTR. But this is incredibly awful. They could have gone so many different routes with this and chose a weak actress and horrible writers. Their only salvation is to make this all action from here on out and cut the monologue. What a shame.

Visually speaking you could tell they put some money into it. I just didn't care for the story. The Harfoots and Dwarf scenes both felt like a childrens show. Lots of things didn't make sense to me, though I'm not a Tolkien nut. I've watched all the movies and that's it. I'll probably still start S2 when it comes out because there's still so much potential that gives me hope.

I've never thought about it like this but yes.. now that you mention it .. framing the 1 season this way does help it make more sense to me...

Not a joke… he literally posted what seems to be a Russian one-sheet on Elon by mistake

Because I later posted/texted that elsewhere. Yeah, sorry, people make typos and mistakes. Doesn’t change this season and show are a failed abortion.

The cinematography was good, the practical effects and prosthetics were movie quality. The sets were good, and the cgi (if/when used) blended in well. The music and sound are great.
We just had a night combat scene in the final episode that should embarrass the HotD makers... you could see clearly what was going on, unlike that walk on the beach scene.
The story needs work, and I think they need a more experienced guy both plotting the show out, and editing it together. Too much time with the Harfoots, not enough time with Celebrimbor.
Galadriel's slo-mo horse ride is a microcosm of the problems this show has... it looked great- and had zero reason to make the final cut. It's almost like they were given resources that they'd never had before, and were playing with things to show off, instead of editing the actual story to the best they could.

I’m just hoping Avatar (not Blue Man Group) will be more salvageable than this bullshite. They cast it right and haven’t called the fanbase a bunch of racist pieces of shite for being very apprehensive on the project (especially since we got the exact cast as requested), so yeah I’ll be watching that as Scoob watched Rings of Power. That’s going to be $40 million an episode and 8 episodes as well going to the grand total of $340 million, and I just hope they don’t ruin it like this show has done with Lord of the Rings.
