This is irrelevant. All the House settlement deal did is allow colleges to directly pay athletes via revenue sharing. NIL via third parties still has no cap.

quote:

The settlement allows power conference schools and other Division I universities that opt in to directly share revenue with college athletes beginning July 1. The revenue-sharing cap is expected to be roughly $20.5 million in year one (2025-26) and increase on an annual basis. The number is calculated as 22 percent of Power 5 schools’ average athletic revenue.

quote:

College athletes are still permitted to sign “over-the-cap” NIL deals with third-party organizations that will not count toward a school’s revenue-sharing pool.

The only difference now for third party deals is they have to be approved by a clearinghouse to ensure fair market value. But again not sure what Texas fans are complaining about.

We need to lock down that Center from Michigan

Along with his OT teammate and the OT from NC State

The future of college football is 4 conferences with
18-20 teams a piece and the rest will be playing in another category.

I do not see that many teams to be honest that will be able to sustain. The ACC and B12 have yet to benefit from NIL. Yes, I know TTU did this year but not as a conference overall. Both conferences for as long as I can remember were 2(maybe 3) at the top and the rest of the league not really good. That has not changed with NIL. The B12 is probably worse now that their big anchor schools have all left.

Another thing to watch is going to be the NFL. They have kept their hands out of it because players declaring early and whatever has only benefited them but that will change. Second round and later will see less quality talent coming out when those players can make more money by staying in college. Players also now have agents as a freshman and well prepared for contracts not to mention they will demand more coming out.

One more thing my guess the next change for CFB since the NCAA has no power is players entering the draft will get a longer window to withdraw and it will not be long before a player that declares for the draft goes 3rd or later after expecting to go no later than the second and sues the NCAA for his eligibility back to return to school after the draft.

But if some smaller schools can build a roster through the portal and contend and even manage a playoff spot then its mission accomplished.

g6 programs are going to be feeder/farm programs. Relationships are going to be important with the smaller schools like JUCOs were in the past to develop players before they moved on.

My guess is the reason for the playoff expansion has stalled is to make it harder for a g6 team to get in. I would wager they will no longer an auto bid but an at large bid only based on a high enough ranking.

It’s all about parity now.

Yes but now what people think. Look at what really has happened with all of this. The only parity is the SEC and B10 have gotten stronger. The other two power conferences have gotten weaker and the rest of CFB is no longer a factor unless a bone is thrown to them like auto bids.

Prior to all this the top teams in the SEC and B10 were the same. Those teams are still there but now you have the Indiana's and Ole Miss teams stepping up and competing.

Parity yes but not for CFB overall, just the Big 2 conferences.

I saw that Tyree Adams from LSU is expected to visit. Does anyone know if that will happen or when?

I just heard he is coming for a visit. Great news.

If we could pull Jacarrius Peak that would a huge get for us. I know we have that center(IIRC) coming in from UM I wish we could get that OT Andrew Sprague from there as well who is in the portal. Sprague is originally from Missouri.
I wonder if H Smothers could bring his teammate OT Jacarrius Peak with him on the visit. Had a really good season for NC State and some thought he might enter the draft but declared for the portal today.

Now since you have so much time lay out au for us.

The one thing that has not changed is the obsession by au fans and the stepchild program of the state. Please keep entertaining us.

Nagata was incredibly unlikable.

Her story arc from S4 and on almost made it hard to watch. On a rewatch I skipped through a lot of her scenes.
quote:

Don’t they have to be approved by NCAA?

There is a third-party clearinghouse that approves them, but all it requires is to demonstrate fair market value for the deal. Still no cap
quote:

When teams get 20 million to share with the team, I can’t see ANY scenario where Formby should be allocated 1.7M of it

Revenue sharing from TV deals has nothing to do with what a collective wants to dish out as those 3rd party NILs still have no cap.

I say this respectfully but if their decisions are based on message boards, mid programs like UAB that has no fan support is their best option as every Power 5 message board would be skull dragging his name today.

My post was made in jest because of the OP claims, but yes I agree.

After every game in the post-game interviews Simpson made it a point to go hug or whatever that was to Deboer. If the family had issues with the staff or if Simpson was getting forced to play injured than I guess the post-game actions were fake.

He had time in the pocket many times before he got sacked. He had wide open WRs he never looked their way. What the hell did our OL have to do with him running for a 1st down and instead of sliding decides to take a hit?

I guess on here you either need to blame TY or go full out and blame the coaches. It goes both ways, but Simpson cost us plenty with his poor play.

I am sure Ty and his family can read message boards like this. All the hate he has been getting I would not blame them.

To be honest though if that means his brother does not come here oh well. CFB has turned into an NFL version. You get paid to play now so if you cannot handle the fan expectations probably do not need to be playing P5.

I just want a M Ingram type back. Someone that can block, always get positive yardage, and great ball security.

This is not exactly true. Schools DO make millions off of tv revenue and there would be no revenue or program without the players. On the other hand, schools spend a fortune on facilities, staff, academic support, athletic trainers/medical staff, dieticians, etc. None of this stuff is "free". Most programs are in the red each year, so to say the schools are profiting millions is simply not true.

Even Alabama, which I thought was in "the black" is apparently broke. Of course, I have to wonder if there's some mismanagement going on here but that's another story.

Operating in the red does not mean the program is broke. Some of the major cost the university has are capital costs that have long term payment options that eventually will put us back in the black but right now that debt can work as a tax benefit. So, without seeing all the numbers not concerned about that.

But in regard to the other none of that would be possible without the players. You want the top players to keep the program on top which brings in investors and the new stuff. I also never said the school was profiting millions, but the revenue streams are there, and we do have coaches making between 7 to 8 figures annually. Without the players none of that revenue would be there nor the TV deals. So hard for a player to sit there and say well you can find a way to pay an asst coach 7 figures but yet I am living in a dorm given a meal plan.

Changing the calendar of when the portal is open doesn't prevent anyone from making money.

No but it will let everything settle post season including coaching changes and players that opt out for the draft. Also it will allow players and staff a spring practice to go through to determine if they should stay for the fall or leave.

Saban basically was doing this his first few years where we got blasted for his gray shirting practices.
quote:

It's never going to be governed. No politician is going to attempt to stop players from making money. It plays well for one group.

It will but it will be done by the powers to be in CFB. It cannot sustain at the rate it is going and more so than not the investment being made in these transfers is not a great ROI.

Unfortunately, what is probably going to happen is player contracts via some sort of collective bargaining. The bright side to that though is when the dust settles it will create contracts with stipulations regarding transferring, performance, and other language that will put it back under control.
