I was as excited as anyone when this show was first announced. The show is indefensibly awful.
Their attempts to "fool" the viewers in this show was laughable.
Rings of Power is a poorly written, terribly acted, brutally paced, trope-ridden series with almost no likeable characters, mind numbingly dumb events, and too many coincidences used to bail out the bad story telling.
Bezos would be wise to clean house with the show and reboot it with better show runners.
The crazy number of shill articles on yahoo's front page this morning celebrating this series is a great indicator of how bad the show is.
I'll miss razzing it.

This led to a lot of unnecessary problems. For some reason they felt the need to try to keep the identity of Sauron secret from us with headfakes. This meant that his “gifts” and assistance in making the rings was necessarily compressed into a fraction of an episode. That should have been a large part of the first season, with Galadriel trying to oppose Sauron as he gains more and more favor with the elves.

Like I said, the only people who hate it are the mouthbreathers who decided to trash it before it came out. It’s actually hilarious seeing y’all “fight Amazon’s wokeness in defense of Tolkien’s memory” in every thread.
Most everyone who went into it with an open mind think it’s a decent enough show with a number of faults.

Pretty easy when reading the showrunners and actors talking about why the show was going to be great.

The music, the scenery, the references to Valar and first age events, Elrond, Durin, Adar. Those are all good.
Galadriel, Harfoots, Sauron, Gandalf, witches, Celebrimbor, mithril, dialogue, not so much.

Halbrand's character development is fine, and frankly hes the most interesting character in the entire season.
Gandalf is not the wizard/istari.
Celebrimbor is boring.
Mithril is exciting, but they didn't make it exciting at all.
Harfoots... yeah... I wasn't interested in them.
Galadriel's actor is fine - shes paid to do a role. Her character being portrayed is what I have a problem with.
The dialogue in general is horrible.

• The Dwarves— Peter Jackson portrayed them as rambling idiots in the Hobbit and even in LOTR he did not give Gimli justice. This has been a far better interpretation of them.

Show sucks. Knew who Sauron was as soon as he said looks can be deceiving on the raft. I did like the fake out at the beginning of the episode 8 though. Everything just feels so low stakes.

that alone makes it deserving of being trashed.
but then when you factor in the re-purposing of Tolkien's story, and including blatantly plagiarizing/copying lines and scenes from Jackson's movies, destroying and misrepresenting beloved characters like Galdriel, Elendil etc ?
it should be a crime of taking a torch to Tolkien's intellectual property.

Tolkien's works being called "decent enough" by people who are supposed to actually "like" the show is a huge criticism. You might as well have said it isn't worth watching.
