Sauron didn’t have to do anything do be evil.
He wanted to be just a dude. Galadriel dragged him into doing literally everything that ended up being bad. He even offered to give up his evilness if she’d bang him and be his girl. She refuses.
Sauron’s descent into evil is because Galadriel rejected him and now he’s an incel. Seriously, that’s where this disaster of a show took things. It went there.
What a joke and an embarrassment

No its not
Sauron is a manipulator. He is trying to get a powerful ally. He was going to lure her to the dark not force her.

I understand that but it is an utter joke. An entire storyline derived from Galadriel yelling at Frodo in the fellowship of the ring. A billion dollar show to explain why she was mean that one time, because Sauron tried to seduce her. fricking bullshite

Spoilers
Was kind of peeved with how quick they did the Halbrand Sauron reveal. They should have stretched that whole thing out a lot longer.
I didn't like how childish they made the Harfoots. From what I remember of the books it's probably close to Tolkien's idea of them. I remember them being described as innocent and one of the reasons they were resistant to the One Ring's power.
When the old Harfoot guy died I felt nothing. They didn't really do a good job of getting you emotionally invested in the character before killing him off. I thought it was a pretty cheesy scene.
I'm guessing that now the Numenoreans will return to Middle Earth in force and bring Sauron back with them.
I enjoyed the show but yeah, it deserves some criticism.

The really big problem created by this episode-
we have zero evidence of any of the lesser rings (the 9 and the 7) being created.
Without the 9, there are no Nazgul. Per the books, Thorin was actually looking for one of the 7, that his father had, when he organized the expedition to Erebor.
Most of the time when they stray off lore, it's an annoyance to the book readers, but it doesn't create much problem for continuity. In this case, it absolutely does, and needs to be addressed.
I agree as the rings should have been made at this point. Again this story is too centered around Galadriel. So focused on her story that the rest has become irrelevant.

This is my biggest complaint with the series to date.. The only characters that I feel any connection with is Prince Durin and his wife.. and then secondarily with Elrond due to his relationship with Prince Durin.
Ever other character I feel a disconnected ..
The other biggest complaint is the feel of the scale of the story.. to me it does not have the grand/epic even transcendent feel that I think it should have...
IMO these are the two greatest shortcomings of the series so far...
If Amazon fixes these two issues I would be happier with the story line so far...

This might be the case and there like in the lore befriends them. Maybe he helps them make the rings of the 9 there. Who knows.
Either way the show is not expected to return until summer of 2024. Either it will canceled by then but filming just started, they will correct all the issues, or many will just forget about it and move.

Because Amazon's focus was on Galadriel and everyone else a supporting role to support her story which was the worst arc in the whole show.

Remember when the 2nd greatest elf smith to ever live didn’t know how to mix alloys? Remember when he couldn’t get it to work by “force” and Galadriel had the brilliant idea to “coax” them together?
What great writing!

Finally finished it last night. That was a pretty terrible ending. For the first time I actually enjoyed the Harfoots and the the wizard. But man the rest of the episode was bad. My guess for a while was that it was Halbrand, but I was just kind of hoping that it would end up being the stranger. I really didn't want them to make Galadriel the fool all this time. She was one of the only elves that didn't fall into his deception. Seems like they were more worried about making the Harfoots look good than they were Galadriel.
That was my main gripe. That and the weird lightening striking a tree that had a Simiril underneath it and that is what created Mithril and now the random tree is dying so the elves are dying unless they get Mithril story. So stupid.
Other things I was able to look pass but those two things really bothered me. Overall, if you took not following the lore out of it, because they didn't, it was just an ok TV show. Nothing too special other than the looks. It was a very pretty show and their take on the orcs was really good,, but the story just wasn't there.

Honestly to me, this may be the worst moment of season 1. Celebrimbor looked liked a moron.

Took away any emotional impact the character’s story might have made in a well written show.
Mild spoiler
Will anyone care when Celebrimbor is at the head of Sauron’s armies?

That was really bad. Halbrand walks into the forge and after being there for two seconds he has the brilliant idea. This was not a great episode for Celebrimbor fans that's for sure. I just can't get used to seeing an old elf. I get that they wanted to make him like an old wise guy but they didn't have to actually make him look old. Gil-Galads looks were just fine.

I mean be mad at the show and think it sucks, but at least try and understand what you're watching before you're mad about it

I've seen rumors that they may explain in future episodes that this was not Sauron's first time speaking with Celebrimbor or being at that location. The guy is a master manipulator and shape shifter so maybe this isn't the first attempt?

I share alot of the same criticism as what is being said here. I tried to give the show a shot but I was pretty turned off by episode 7. The worse part to me is Galadriel. I got annoyed by her constantly snickering and just general unpleasantness. I laughed when she said, “I told him he looked like a clam”. That’s the last thing you, an elder elf, had to say to your husband going to battle? I also think the casting choice was pretty bad. The actress is short, very stiff, has goofy facial expression that are kind of comedic, and not beautiful enough to be Galadriel (to each their own though I guess). IMO recasting her, while being jarring, would help the show a ton. There is some good stuff though, and I am hopeful it will get better.

I'm in the minority in that I actually liked her character and think she is pretty. I personally don't think there's any chance they re-cast her, even if you didn't like her character (which quite a bit don't), i don't think it's her acting that's the issue. Although she's not a smoke show, I don't think that's what you need as Galadriel. I think a classic beauty look is best. At times she can look like a classic beauty...

Hmm. Did those scenes take place at the new forge? It'd have to be a very small window if that's the case. Also seems like they would have had to have already introduced that character to play that card.
