Unless Boyd Crowder shows up we are done.
No joke. He made the original series.

Jesus fricking Christ I just started it and had tricked myself into thinking they wouldn't actually go there

Anybody waiting to see Boyd can give up. He isn’t in this show.
Heck this show would have been better, if when his daughter asked to go to Harlan, they went and relived the OG

Only way to fix this is to have Winona show up next episode and be like “What the Frick Raylan?”

Very disappointing to read. Loved the original run. Probably will never watch this

This show has been an atrocious bait & switch. I'm actually kind of stunned that's the consensus here to be honest, though.
The original series revolved around Raylan's connection to Kentucky and Harlan specifically. How he'd gotten out, felt he was better than the people he grew up around, and how he hated going back. It centered on the Marshal's office and the court house. And it mostly centered on his Batman/Joker dynamic with Boyd.
City Primeval has NONE of that. It's Justified LITERALLY in name only. The only connection it has to the original series is the fact that Elmore Leonard wrote the novel City Primeval: High Noon in Detroit and he also wrote the Fire in the Hole novella which was basically the pilot episode of Justified. Oh, and they plopped Raylan into a story he was not originally in, since it was written 13 years before he was introduced as a character by Leonard.
But remember...this was the teaser trailer, because this is what they were selling fans of the show.

In reality, it's a crime drama version of Empire with a neutered version of Raylan Givens guest starring and making odd occasionally appearances in scenes. It' atrocious that they dug up Raylan for this. The ONLY saving grace thus far is that they have not retconned anything form the old show here, ruining his past self. Though, I'd be stunned if it doesn't happen before this is all over.
And the real Raylan would have never slept with that racist, unpleasant potato.

I'll be honest, I loved the original Justified so much that I was along for the ride for this one. The first few episodes were ok, not great, but enough to keep me watching to see where it goes. This new episode just sucked. The show is going nowhere and it's just not good. Forget the horrible angle of Raylan banging the ugly lawyer. He's not Raylan Givens at all. The whole magic of the original was that Olyphant stole the screen every scene he was in. The Raylan character was the biggest draw. He's nowhere to be found in this show. It's like he's reading off a teleprompter.
I'll finish it because there are only 2 eps left, but this show sucks.

I didn't expect Boyd but Wynn or someone like that would've been cool

Any idea of #7's name? I vaguely remember her being on the show.

Why, that's Miss Jackie Nevada, daughter of Reno Nevada. She was in Episode called "Money Trap" from Season 4.

She ends up with Raylan in a hotel room after this, and he's on the phone with Art telling him what happened and of course Art realizes he's about to bang this girl...while she undresses with the bathroom door open. it's pretty spectacular, and honestly she could move up the list.
ETA: 6 was in the same episode...bounty hunter that hired Raylan to track the guy down, and who he kills during his escape.

The drama between lawyer lady and her ex was retarded and just came out of nowhere. Who gives a frick?!

I know I shouldn’t be surprised that a beloved property woked itself to death but frick, I’m surprised.
The one line I agree with so far is when Carolyn says “we’re everywhere" regarding black people. frick if that ain't true.

I could forgive most of that if the show was entertaining just without the charm of Justified
It’s just fricking boring.

quote:I agree with this 99%. My only caveat is that, every once in awhile, there is a little flash of the old Raylan. There will be a look and a tilt of the head that conveys more than a paragraph of dialogue. And then it’s right back to reading the next line of the script, which is so frustrating.

It’s just got no substance. It doesn’t have the same weight and soul of the original series. It’s just going through the motions. Very disappointing.
