Yep. And of course it’s an angry black man who hates cops . Of course .
Why is it a problem that you disagree with the sentiments of a character whom the audience is supposed to hate?
He is a shitbag, and he is only ever presented as such.

Because she was gigglin as he called Raylan a mayonnaise sandwich

This show has been an atrocious bait & switch. I'm actually kind of stunned that's the consensus here to be honest, though.
The original series revolved around Raylan's connection to Kentucky and Harlan specifically. How he'd gotten out, felt he was better than the people he grew up around, and how he hated going back. It centered on the Marshal's office and the court house. And it mostly centered on his Batman/Joker dynamic with Boyd.
City Primeval has NONE of that. It's Justified LITERALLY in name only. The only connection it has to the original series is the fact that Elmore Leonard wrote the novel City Primeval: High Noon in Detroit and he also wrote the Fire in the Hole novella which was basically the pilot episode of Justified. Oh, and they plopped Raylan into a story he was not originally in, since it was written 13 years before he was introduced as a character by Leonard.
But remember...this was the teaser trailer, because this is what they were selling fans of the show.

In reality, it's a crime drama version of Empire with a neutered version of Raylan Givens guest starring and making odd occasionally appearances in scenes. It' atrocious that they dug up Raylan for this. The ONLY saving grace thus far is that they have not retconned anything form the old show here, ruining his past self. Though, I'd be stunned if it doesn't happen before this is all over.
I agree with all this. This is Justified in name only. It's a shame they did this to a very solid and well done show like Justified.

It's the result of them shoe-horning Raylan unto a non-Raylan story.

This love interest makes no sense, Ok, she is black...that is fine, but she is ugly and fat. It would like a love interest between the black cop on the show and Winona (dont give em any ideas).

It is forced, it is disappointing. All I need is Raylan and some bad guys to fight. Instead we get this neutered Raylan and

The villains were a big part of why the original Justified was so great. You had a fantastic lead, but he also had great villains with complex motivations to play off of.
This bad guy is just boring. He’s got no plan, he’s not menacing or anything. he just sits around in his underwear and gets high.

If only there was some large criminal group with tie ins to the original show they could have worked in.
That would have been very convenient.
And the obvious way to make this show work.

The problem is none of the story makes sense.
The reason he’s still in Detroit. Dumb
Why can’t his kid speak English clearly?
How has does the mfer just drive around in the very vehicle that they know ran into the judge?
Why would her and Raylan hook up?
Where did the Albanians go?
How does the gun get missed if they properly tossed that bar with a canine?
Raylan would never handle the ex husband like that.
If you are buying off judges in Detroit you aren’t meeting nobody without some of your own heat around.
The entire premise has no understandable parts.
It’s actually mind boggling how bad it is.

I am guessing the casino has no cameras anywhere in the parking garage.

couldn't make it through the first couple episodes.

The one line I agree with so far
For me, it's the first thing he tells his daughter after handing her an ice cream in the opening scene. she's trying to drag arse to not go to the discipline camp he's driving her too and she says something about being on time.
Raylan responded: "There is no 'on time.' You're either early, or you're late."
That's vintage Raylan.

Over the top hyperbole. The show is fine, it just isn't as good as the original because there is no Boyd Crowder witty commentary and jawing back n forth with Raylan

But yeah its not nearly as good as the original

It was actually ok and felt like it was building momentum, the episode with the Albanians was good. And then bam, we got last week’s episode. Idk wtf that was.

Yeah, it’s missing that “it” factor that the original had.
It just feels all over the place. And that Raylan has no real connection to anything going on. As someone said, you can tell it’s a Justified story that he was plugged into for fan service.
It’s unfortunate.

Raylans not being Raylan and the story makes no sense.
Sorry not sorry. That’s mind boggling.
This is making Daryl Crowe look like a criminal mastermind.

It’s ok, but a disappointment.
Love the original and was so excited for the new season. It’s just not the same.
Winona said that Raylan was the angriest man she ever met…
What happened to that Raylan?
And I’d sure like to see a cameo of Art, Tim or of course Boyd, but we aren’t getting that.
Olyphant has said he’s not opposed to doing more, just hope they get the next one right.

Raylan isn't Raylan, and the plot is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY all over the place. It isn't great, but it has its moments I guess. Tonight's episode was actually surprisingly good.

I’m glad I ducked out after the first episode. The vibe just wasn’t there and everything felt off. Looms like I was right reading this thread. I’ll pretend the last I saw of Raylan was saying goodbye to Boyd.

E6 (only 2 left) was actually good. I suspect the female cop is the mole.
