Norm’s Charles Woodson Heisman joke at the ESPY’s still makes me laugh

Absolutely loved his style of comedy and he was one of my favorites. RIP
I just re-watched his ESPY monolog and he was dropping deadpan BOMBS as if he was ordering a vanilla milkshake. RIP Norm M

"if I'm elected we will cure cancer"

Still waiting...

RIP Norm,

you were one of the greats and in a time where SNL was actually enjoyable.

Not his best movie but I'm gonna watch Screwed tonight because after this week because that's how i feel we are.

Keep them laughing and thankfully your battle with that terror is over. It has taken too many from us.

I’m at cry 4. I’ve idolized him since I was 8 or 9. Regardless I’m sure it was single digits. Outside of Robin Williams, I’m confident he was my second comedic love and became enthralled with his comedy and humor at an early age. He was a truly decent man on top of being the funniest person in the world. Norm really shaped me as a human being, and I’m probably in his top .1% fans. I’m thankful to see his standup in person, but in addition to be the funniest person who has ever lived, he was a truly good human being. I’m going to miss him.

I’m going to be and hopefully the world will be, but I’ve idolized this guy since elementary school. He was just great, funny, and an all around great person. He’s a great person to try to emulate. Yeah, you knew I’d be devastated by it, but let us live in Norm’s legacy, humor, and kindness. He was just the best, and I don’t think I made a poor choice on people to idolize, even if he’d certainly bust my balls for doing it.

Definitely on my Mount Rushmore of comedians.

His Norm Macdonald Live eps with Gilbert Gottfried and Super Dave are the among the funniest I've heard on any podcast.

Tbh he hadn't looked healthy for awhile. I always just thought it was because he was getting old, but it makes more sense now

In retrospect it seems obvious. He had some appearances in recent years where he was very bloated. I remember thinking that he looked like Jerry Lewis near the end of his life (Lewis was on corticosteroids and those can be part of some combination treatment protocols for some cancers).

RIP to a funny and nearly fearless comedian and joke writer. It was amazing to see him completely control places from tough rooms, to adversarial talk shows, angry Twitter mobs, or rooms full of unsuspecting celebrities. And the kicker would be an unexpected punchline told with a beatific smile and a dry delivery.

Tell St Peter the moth joke Norm, he'll let you right in.

Whenever I see a celebrity dying in the news or on this board, it’s just another story to me and I just shrug it off. This one actually stopped me in my tracks and I felt genuinely sad. Norm is a fricking legend, and this is truly awful. Like others have already said in this thread, keeping the whole cancer thing to himself really speaks to who he was as a person. No posts on Twitter seeking sympathy likes or any of that horseshite. He truly did not care about stuff like that. They don’t make em like that anymore.

The funniest and most insightful entertainment figure of most of our lifetimes in now gone.

This side of the plane just became quite a bit dimmer.

And while that was going on, he was making jokes about how fat he had gotten and making his friends think nothing was wrong.
