That was a bad analogy. Ants aren’t truly sentient like humans. They don’t have a cortex for higher level thinking.
And I don’t think we’d kill ants like we do if they looked exactly like us but smaller. But then again, probably.

We kill people that look like us all the time.
That said, it is suspected that octopuses are really smart - much smarter than our pets.
Doesn’t stop us from eating them.

Modern humans act like Nolan everyday all over the world. We just don't hear about it. There is some crazy shite going on in this world. That's why Nolan says humans are scum animals. He's right.

Some severe edge lord behavior going on here.

We literally enslaved people and churned through them like mulch for like 99% of human history.
Also, Battle Beast might show back up. He seemed pretty fricking capable.

Just finished the season.
Holy. shite. I don't know how closely this mirrors the comic but damn if this show wasn't fantastic! Apparently it's done so well Amazon has already greenlit S2 & S3!
This did a LOT right. They spent a lot of time building up the family bond, creating a sense of connection between the audience and the Graysons. J.K. Simmons has one of those quintessential warm, paternal voices and he knows how to get the most out of it. His vocal ability really sells Nolan/Omni Man in the early part of the season and because of his turn/revelation I think that's needed at least as much as (if not more than) Steven Yuen's youthfully upbeat and optimistic portrayal of Mark/Invincible.
The only voice I had an issue with was Cecil. His look and his voice didn't match up for me so it always took me out of the moment. For his look I would have liked a voice with a little age to it, maybe a slight rasp and/or lisp (because of the damage to the face).
Aside from Cecil's age the only other issue I had with the series was the aliens which kept appearing from the sped-up dimension. They would appear, kill a frickton of people, be defeated and it seemed as if the residents around the area just went back to their normal lives. Every other bit of writing had far more depth and showed the viewer ramifications of various actions, except for this major event and that just kind of bugged me.
BUT... those were only personal taste issues and even then they are simply minor peccadillos.
Before I forget though...
frick Amber. She was smart enough to figure out he was Invincible so she should have been smart enough to figure out the he wasn't telling her because it was difficult for him to confide it to anyone. Instead she broke up with him after treating him like shite about it after watching him put his life on the line to save other peoples' lives.
In my book that makes her something Billy Butcher says we should all avoid being...
The fight between Nolan and Mark at the end was almost as good as Nolan's revelations and explanations. Kirkman seemed to hit a solid note with what it must be like to be essentially immortal like that. To have that sort of power, knowledge, longevity and ego but then to fall in love with a "mere mortal" like one of us... it must be a bit like Stockholm Syndrome. Nolan could put aside his far larger scope of reality for a while and live in the now for a while. He did this deeply enough for long enough that he was able to somewhat shirk his duties for a "short time" (to his perspective). It also gave him the opportunity to surreptitiously evaluate the abilities of Earth's superhumans before making his opening move (which he then did in such a stealthy way that humans, in their ignorance, helped him recover).
And now we find not only are the Viltrumites stretched thin in order to control their empire, but after a hell of a physical and emotional fight against his son Nolan has done the unthinkable: he's the first Viltrumite to fly off and simply leave a world unconquered.
That's a hell of season finale.
Bravo.

The cartoon is better than the comic from what I have read so far.

When the comic was first starting out Kirkman was probably still trying to find what worked and what didn’t. It’s has it’s up and downs but eventually gets much better. Now he knows what works and what didn’t.
Issue 80 was the peak for me. Issues 81-110 are a bit too much. From 111-132 it’s a lot of unnecessary stuff but still has some decent moments. If the show gets that far, they can cut out a lot of that. But the final story arc was done pretty well and I thought they nailed the ending.
If you’re going to read through the comics I think it’s worth it. I did say stop at like 80 a few pages ago but I just got through reading the full thing. I stopped reading it a few years ago but after reading the ending, it’s worth it to see how everything turns out.

Holy shite, just dropping into echo the same sentiments on the subway scene. That was one of the most brutal things if not the most brutal thing Ive ever seen in a tv show or movie. What a show! Good to see that Lion badass make a cameo at the end. I’d imagine he teams up with the Invincible at some point.

Yeah that sounds about right, season 2 and 3 would cover the good part of the story, then it get SJWy, Atom Eve will be fat for no reason and still go out superheroing, Invincible character however would become soy boy and super submissive. His hero journey would be in the gutter.
But yeah about up to season 3 sounds good.

Started reading the comics. They’ve definitely improved on several aspects from the comics. More depth to Amber (cardboard cliche GF in the comics with no backstory or characterization), we get more depth off the bat with Will (it’s good they brought him out of the closet off the bat), Robot and Monster Girl is better.
The Animen creator comes off far worse on the show than the comic though. Show went straight hardcore psychotic evil.
Also. The show fight between Mark and Nolan is far more brutal than the comic which was much more tame.
They’ve moved things around issue wise.
I’ll be curious what changes they make going forward.

Just finished this the other night. To my surprise i really enjoyed it, but amber is the worst. I would get so frustrated watching Mark take shite from her, and everyone else.
he needs to go tap the ginger in her treehouse.
Jk Simmons as Omni-man was great. I kept rooting for him even though he’s supposed to be the bad guy. I wish the demon detective had a larger role. I enjoyed that character. Loved all the gore. There’s definitely a heavy handed wokeness element, but I was still able to enjoy it.

The comic just didn’t show a lot in general. They constantly talked throughout the series about how much destruction was caused but it wasn’t shown a whole lot. I do like that they expanded the beginning part of this story. Because in the comic the very first issue to the time Nolan fights Mark all seemed to happen very quickly.
But the comic has plenty of brutal fights later on.
Also Omni-Man’s power levels are a little more consistent it seems. As powerful as he was in the comic, he shouldn’t have been able to crush the Guardians in literally 5 seconds top in the comics.

More depth to Amber
I’m curious where they are going to be going with her character since she’s basically a whole new character compared to her comic counter part.

Well, knowing how things eventually turn out, hopefully they don’t drag her character out too long. I mean, with how new Amber is, I doubt a certain plot line regarding her gets kept.
