I doubt a certain plot line regarding her gets kept.
Yeah no way that happens. She didn’t even bang him after he finally came clean to her

Why is there no fricking in this show? They go absolutely all in on gore. It could be pretty damn funny to have a sex scene in this animation style.

To be fair, that same depiction is from the comics.
Not sure if they have the exact same writers or not.
The show is almost scene for scene from the comic book panels. The only major changes so far are the show went more woke. Amber is white in the comics and way less of an important character. William is not gay (yet) thus the College visit episode was a big departure from the comics.

They’d didn’t go woke at all. They just dropped the unnecessary ness of William staying in the closet so long and dispensed with that plot line early on.
And the complaints of Amber being race changed is just so damn weird. She was a cardboard GF. An empty shell. The comic never developed her even a little.
Mark may as well have been dating a mannequin given she never put out either.

I didn’t complain about either change but you’re kidding yourself if you don’t think bringing out Williams almost immediately and changing Amber’s race and importance weren’t calculated signaling.

Meh. I see it as Kirkman improving his story. They joked about William being gay issue after issue. Was dumb and annoying. It’s a TV series. They needed to bump things up and making him gay off the bat solves many of the minor issues with his character.
I really don’t care about Amber. She was literally a blank canvas given how she was written. Don’t care she’s black. Wouldn’t have cared she got turned into a hot tempered Latina.
And it’d be some weak “virtue signaling” for a character that disappears rather quickly in the comic.

quote:There are plenty of people fricking in the comics, but why they don’t show it is a running joke. Older comic books were big on being “family friendly” but would still show lots of violence. So every time there’s about to be a sex scene in Invincible, they cut off and say “we’re family friendly comic after all”. But usually the following pages would include some gory fighting.
Why is there no fricking in this show?

Lol yea. The end of volume notes is Kirkman shitting on the constraints of the big two comic brands. And his points are solid. I gave up reading major comics like Batman because they’d never let the character evolve.
Image Comics has been a nice surprise.

Not just to the target audience, but I think if you lined up, say, 100 young women not into the comic book genre, screened scenes with Amber for them (including her dumping him AFTER he admits being Invincible):

I think even they would view her in a negative light.
I mean, she's unwilling to date a superhero (who's clearly hung up on her), because he doesn't give her constant attention. Dude's not sleeping around on her, he's not out partying with the boys. He's not deployed overseas or moved to another city for school or a job. He's simply taking time out to SAVE people, because he can.
Her little "I work at the shelter helping serve meals" is just something to make herself feel good about herself. He's able to do a lot more than serve stew, but she can't handle that because he isn't standing beside her the whole time.
I'm not seeing how making her black, is an appeal to blacks.

Oh Amber is still a mediocre character. I mean... as I said, she was a nothing burger in the comic. Kirkman made her marginally better by giving her things to round her out somewhat, but she’s not even a William level character in the comic. She’s there and then she’s gone. I don’t even think Kirkman gives a shite about her character. And given the comic story, pretty much all the human characters are useless and non-essential outside of Marks mom and the Supes.

Started this series yesterday after getting a rec to watch it, glad that I did.

Yes, this show was fantastic. Waited too long to watch it

Just started this today. Love how Kirkman blatantly ripped off all those DC heroes just to immediately kill them all off.

Anyone know when they are doing more shows? Said every Friday would be more, and they stopped w/o a series finale.
I was like, no, not another Tick, where they kill the show, w/o even so much as a series finale. It ended, with no end or cliff hanger.

But, our pets got personality. Personality goes a long way.
