A very good scene in showcasing how terrifying it would be to live in a world with people that powerful and not having powers of your own.

frick, that episode was absolutely brutal. This show really don't hold back when it comes to killing people. I really felt genuinely sad when Mark tried to save the mother and daughter, along with the building at the same time. Most shows would find a way for the hero to do something miraculous and somehow save everyone so that no one does. Either that, or another hero would come to save the day. Not this show. Mother and daughter brutally dies. Along with many others. I'm just glad they didn't show the remains of the lil girl, or that would have really fricked me up.

I mean damn, I knew Omni-Man was evil, but I guess I didn't figure he was THAT evil

In my mind I figured Mark would end up throwing the first punch, and Nolan wouldnt do much beyond defend himself as he wouldn't want to harm his own sun.
NOPE. Nolan threw the first damn punch, and proceeded to beat his son into a bloody pulp.

I figured Nolan loved his wife, and would ultimately want her to forgive him, even though he's not the man she thought he was. NOPE. She's just a pet to him. He alluded to him possibly being like 1000 years old. So she's probably not the first woman he's knocked up.
This also makes me wonder if Mark has any siblings out there then. (No comic book spoilers please. I'm ok with waiting and see.)

That subway scene was probably the most brutal scene I’ve ever seen. Goddamn.

OmniMan - Father of the Year.

Maybe 'Invincible ' should think about a name change

You. Omni-Man a genocidal maniac bent on enslavement,

I can’t believe Nolan thought calling Mark’s mother a “pet” would end well.

But...

That was the most lopsided “fight” in the history of fights I’ve ever seen. It’s Injustice Superman on crack cocaine, meth, and generic superiority. Like a Nazi Superman.

I mean. “Always make another kid.” That got dark as frick in a hurry. And saved by...baseball.

Ah shite. They’re putting The Immortal back together? That should be... interesting. Seems he needs a durability upgrade though.

Amber sucks. Why do we have to have her back? That relationship is terrible.

In case anyone in Hollywood is watching, THIS is how you tell a story.

Depends how you define evil.

Do you consider yourself evil if you spray an anthill?

To him, that's all he's doing.

I was going to say the same thing.

It's all about perspective. I guess animals that we hunt and eat, like deer, would think of us as homicidal maniacs from their perspective. But to us, we are the top of the food chain, and deer are food.

When we kill an ant bed, or step on a roach, we feel nothing. That's the same perspective OM has for humans.

Adding in his super long age, he sees out lifespan as just a blip. Killing one of us or making a new son is like fast forwarding through a commercial for him.

This show is the sleeper of brilliant writing GOAT.

Yep, exactly. Omni Man is human in looks alone. He may as well be a 60 foot alien. He doesn't see himself as human. This show is one of the best things on tv right now.

Just dropped in to say I’m so glad I started this show,
Saw some comments on Twitter about it
Man this is such a great show

Also I saw someone else mention it but the X ray feature is really cool for this series (especially being someone who watched Walking Dead)

Loved the finale. But man that was brutal like people have said. “Your mom’s like a pet to me.” “I can always make another son.” The Chicago street part. The subway part. Good Lord.

I’ll add a couple things I thought about. IMO the mom definitely always felt deep down that Nolan was capable of this. She just was good at hiding it and also “controlling” him to a degree. I think one thing that makes OM so mad is how “human” he’s become since he met her and started a family. And he’s had that anger/guilt pent up for decades.

I was kinda expecting him to let up on Mark at some point, but holy shite he never did. Or at least not until he kicked his arse all over the world for hours. And man the animation...the looks in OM’s eyes several times as he was beating his son to a pulp were psychotic. Yikes.

I just don’t see how anybody can defeat him. The one hero that was brought back, OM literally fights him for ten seconds and then rips him in half like a piece of paper. And that was supposedly one of his biggest villain enemies at one point. Obviously the key will have to be Mark but I just don’t see how he can compete sans finding some sort of MAJOR weakness in OM/Viltrumites (and he’s part V as well so that comes into play with any weaknesses).

And I don’t think it’s fully fair to compare OM waxing Mark/earth to stepping on anthills. He’s related to Mark. That’s his blood (literally). I’d have much more of an issue stepping on an anthill if I could relate to ants and communicate or actually be related to them somehow. So it’s not exactly the same thing when it comes to Mark. I agree that’s how he views it though.

And man, the cast is impressive. There are just so many famous people and well known actors voicing characters here and there. It’s kinda cool. And that’s also where the pause feature on Prime comes in handy.

Can’t wait for S2 of this. Any ideas to when it is scheduled to happen? (I know it’s not soon)

Later in the episode when Mark is talking to Cecil, it looks like they’re doing elemental experiments. Maybe Omni-Man has a “Kryptonite”?

To be fair, that same depiction is from the comics.

Not sure if they have the exact same writers or not.

IMBD lists Robert Kirkman and Ryan Ottley. Kirkman did the writing and Ottley handled most of the artwork so it’s the same two guys as the comic for the most part

I’m assuming the next season will have more episodes. The whole comic is 144 issues and they basically covered up to the 12th issue here. So either they’ll condense some things / leave them out or they won’t go all the way. Or they might do both.

Animation is lot cheaper then a live action would be so I’m assuming they can do a bunch of seasons. Hopefully since it’s the same guys who did the comic they can keep up the high quality like the comics were most of their run time.

I get that, and that is a good perspective. It's pretty easy to have a God complex when you actually are a literal god.

I guess what I wasn't expecting was how willing he was to beat his own son to a pulp. That threw me for a loop. But when I think about it again, he comes from a planet where they had a civil war for the sole purpose of killing off half the population. Thanos would be very proud. Tbh, Nolan has probably already killed or watched his own wife/children be killed before.

Yep, he has seen some terrible shite and knows what must be done to make the viltrumites happy. Either comply or be destroyed. Nolan knows he will be killed by the viltrumites if he shows weakness at this point. It's game time.
