Bran's whole thing actually meant nothing. What did him being the 3 eyed raven actually mean?

Jon coming back from the dead meant nothing. He came back to scream at a dead blue dragon?

We never get why the Night King was doing what he was doing, really. The Children made him, but that's not enough explanation.

Sansa gets to say the North isn't part of the 7 kingdoms, but still lets Jon get sent away.

WHY does a Stark always need to be in Winterfell? Don't know.

fricking Direwolves never given justice. That big pack Nymeria had coulda ran through some wights.

Grey Worm should have died instead of Barristan.

Jaime's hand should have been molded to at least hold a knife or sword.

Jon should have claimed Drogon.

Blackfish should have still been around.

end of season 6, last scene. Dany’s’ fleet crossing the sea.

plenty of story left to tell obviously but satisfying nonetheless. Leave them wanting more.

Instead we got whatever that was…

Jon's character arc = destroyed

Dany's character arc = destroyed

but even those moments were mostly death note to the show having a satisfying ending, because they would sacrifice logical paths forward in the name of subverting expectations, and then having no solid plan to move forward after whatever twist they went with

That was what truly did it in. Rather than trying to craft the best possible story they could, they started trying to frick with and outsmart the audience.

You saw this shite happen with Westworld, too; and honestly also with the Star Wars sequels. There was such an effort to do something that makes people say "ooh, I didn't see THAT coming".

I don't know when that became the cool, edgy thing to do, but it ruined a lot of shows and movies. It might be interesting at the time, but you don't want to rewatch any of them.

He is the seven kingdoms memory. I think, maybe. He didn't want to be Bran or the heir to Winterfell, just the three eyed raven. Told Meera, Sam, Littlefinger, his sisters, everyone that. But he is completely fine being Bran the King. Got it.

According to Bran, he wanted an endless night. To erase the world. Simple enough. Just part of the ice and fire yin and yang story. Fire representing life in one way and ice representing death.

Made no sense for her to be ok with him getting banished.

I've always said that one thing that could have just a tiny bit made the ending better for me is when in the final scene when Jon is walking out past the wall and the camera is rising showing an overhead shot, that Drogon should have just swooped by and then boom, credits. You could have at least been like damn, Jon got himself a dragon like a true Targaryen.

This right motherfricking here all damn day long. Having your expectations be subverted is only cool when the outcome that you didn't see coming turns out to be even cooler than what you expected to happen. It's like filmmakers expect me to think, "Well, I was expecting to see Jon Snow end the series riding on a dragon leading the forces of Westeros to defeat the Army of the Dead and then get crowned king and get to frick Dany for the rest of his life. That would have been fricking rad. What I actually got was for him to end up as a sad sack banished back to a Wall that has no reason to continue to exist. But since I didn't expect or even want to see it, that makes it even cooler than what I was wanting." No one thinks this, and you're right, these movies and shows have no staying power because of it.

And now you've mentioned Star Wars and I'm even more pissed. Goddammit, Rian Johnson, I watch Star Wars to see Luke Skywalker kicking arse with a lightsaber! Why can you not understand this??????

any worse than Tyrion convincing Dany (Who for some reason is also now retarded enough to take this advice) to march on King's Landing (Which is now seemingly located in the middle of a desert) without dragons to get Cersei to bend the knee?

Speaking of which how the hell does Dany go from “I’m willing to die at Winterfell to save the world”
to “lol frick these people everyone dies” in like two episodes. Not to mention she literally won the war all there was left were a few Lanister soldiers and Cersei hiding her arse in the Red Keep. Just get Jon and Grey Worm to drag her arse out of there

Dumb is a mild way to describe sending a large portion of your army in a charge where they are basically impotent against the enemy and do nothing but add to the Army of the Dead's numbers when they die.

Most of it was down reasonably well... more deaths should have happened.

This was stupid to the Nth degree. The Dothraki, mounted, are faster than the Dead. They had lots of dragon glass chips, and the Dothraki are excellent mounted archers. Staying on the move, they could have done some serious damage to that army, especially since they're concentrated around the castle. And then unlike foot soldiers, they could withdraw to safety after releasing flurries.

Because they were going to make her the Mad Queen no matter what and decided to rush to the finish line. Dumb and Dumber couldn’t wait to be done with the show and were checked out in many ways.

rumor is GRRM told them how the story ends with Bran on the throne but it was up to D&D to get there.

Say what you will about Beyond the Wall, but it has maybe my favorite quote of the whole show. I mean, not really, but I use it all the time in similar context.

Dondarrion - "We'll meet again, Clegane."

The Hound - "fricking hope not."

The worst story line of the whole show, even more than the Dorne stuff, was the Arya faceless men nonsense. I've rewatched the entire series a few times now and will usually fast forward through most of her getting beat up by blonde girl terminator.

Westworld might be the most egregious example. Red herrings are one thing, but they seemed to actively lie to the audience to the point where it was hard to understand if anything was supposed to be real or where it all fit in. They just tangled themselves up into a nonsense web of plots

Honestly I think boards like this one and the internet in general getting injected into the mainstream probably played a huge part here. The way we watch and interact with movies and TVs is such a different thing than it used to be

Yea I mean honestly that was never a problem. But each time I watched it it was at night and the lights off. I wasn't trying to watch it with sunlight coming into the house with a reflection bouncing off the TV

There were certain scenes that looked really good actually. Especially the dragon fight scenes.

THEY DID NONE OF THIS.

They rode out into the dark. How much dragon glass do you think they had?
