Well, I work in IT - started at support level and the cybersecurity. I was not a hacker though (White Hat or otherwise).

Most of the movies about my profession center around the creators, not the actual doers (The Social Network, Jobs, etc.)

Office Space comes to mind, but they were reviewing lines of code. The environment we work in though, depending on where, can definitely be just like that.

Actual hacking is rarely depicted correctly, because it would be boring to watch someone else do it - and is often depicted more like magic than what it can actually do.

The first few episodes of Mr. Robot is probably as accurate as you get.

Swordfish and Hackers are a drug-fueled fever dream. Fun but 0% realistic.

I work in IT like skrayper, systems engineering for critical infrastructure (think about things that can actually harm people, not just lose email access for 5 minutes). Like he said, most IT depictions are pure nonsense.

Mr. Robot is by far the most accurate of hacking type with Kali Linux (formerly Backtrack). War Games from 1983 had some accuracy for those times with running a script to cold call numbers to find computer systems and not an accurate portrayal in action, but phreaking (getting free long distance) was definitely a thing at the time. Playing global thermonuclear war with WOPR was not.

Waiting is a pretty good representation of restaurant life. Other than the penis showing game of course. That doesn't happen

Offshore and Armageddon pretty much nailed it.

..not that I can think of..

A lot of characters in my profession, but that was never the main plot of a show or movie.
