Like "American Pie" and "Dude, Where's My Car?"

Not a surprise. Gen Z is the absolute worst generation in the history of mankind. Absolutely useless:

quote:

Whether you like it or not, the movies you grew up watching and likely loving are now considered “old”.

Don’t believe me? Turn-of-the-millennium classics like Clueless, American Pie, Bring It On, Eurotrip, and Dude, Where’s My Car? were the recent subject of a Vice article that saw the films be reviewed by Gen Z teens.

And — surprise, surprise — the reactions of those born after the year 2000 were far from impressed, particularly when it came to American Pie.

quote:

This whole movie is completely ridiculous, especially how the only thing the male characters care about is having sex. They’re willing to say and do whatever just to convince the girls to have sex with them. I don’t know if that was realistic when the film came out, but I think men treat women with a lot more respect and equality now,” said 16-year-old Taylor.

quote:

18-year-old Olivia agreed with Taylor in her scathing review of American Pie, which hit theaters back in 1999 and spawned an entire franchise of films:

“It’s bordering on incel attitudes the way the guys in this film think that they deserve sex, and how they seem to think that’s all women are good for rather than wanting a loving relationship with somebody they respect. I think if you were a teenage boy watching this you’d basically feel entitled to behave however you wanted to towards women.”

Gen Z sucks.

I mean they showed it to the wrong people. I am sure there are plenty of 18 year olds who can still relate and find it funny. Some of the stuff is just outdated though.

They've been conditioned by the worst of Gen X'rs to be miserable.

in truth, a lot of these movies are still entertaining but doesn't necessarily mean they've aged super well

I think if you looked at the entire American Pie series, you'd notice a lot of norms change from the first to the last movie

The eras are quite a bit different

Honestly, I never cared for American Pie’s Rube Goldberg gross out humor, but I love all those other movies.

Happy to have grown up in the universally agreed sweet spot for movies and music, and winning of cold wars…

The glorious 1980s.

Leave my generation out of this.

And aren't the parents of Z'ers are mostly Millennials? Blame them.

THIS is why so many movies and TV shows are "going woke". All of the old farts here think it's a political conspiracy, and there certainly are people in power with that agenda, but the biggest agenda in Hollywood is making money. Advertisers have always targeted the younger demographic and the younger demographic is expecting to see something very different than what most of us expected to see.

What do “gen z’ers” laugh at?

This made me laugh

quote:

I didn’t make it to the end of this film and I genuinely don’t get how anyone could actually sit there and watch the whole thing let alone find any of it funny. There was so much not ok stuff in it, especially the scene where they go to get a drive-thru Chinese takeaway and the lady taking the order keeps saying ‘and then’ to Ashton Kutcher’s character. I didn’t get if the joke was supposed to be that she doesn’t understand them or that she wants them to order more, but either way it’s not remotely funny and pretty racist.” Hannah, 17.

Jim would be facing some serious charges if American Pie happened in 2023.

And I have 0 respect for someone who can’t appreciate Eurotrip. Gen Z is indeed the worst.

Yeah human existence for its entire history until internet porn.

But American Pie is a bad movie to discuss because it's a sex-teen comedy and those always come in/out of style (Porky's had a similar negative run during my Xennial childhood).

Not even true at all.

Millennials were raised by boomers. Z is raised by the first generation of helicopter parents - Gen x.

Own it.

Yeah so this was pulled from a Vice article. Of course Vice would pick Gen Zers out who would think American Pie is terrible.
