As hot as Margot Robbie is, she is not a box office draw...

Babylon bombed at the box office, making just $4.85 million in the domestic market against a budget of $110 million over the holiday weekend. This is the fifth film in a row where a film which featured her in a main role has either flopped or disappointed at the box office.
- Bombshell ($32 million budget, $61 million box office)
- Birds of Prey ($100 million budget, $205 million box office)
- The Suicide Squad ($185 million budget, $168 million box office)
- Amsterdam ($80 million budget, $31 million box office)
- Bombshell ($32 million budget, $61 million box office)
- Birds of Prey ($100 million budget, $205 million box office)
- The Suicide Squad ($185 million budget, $168 million box office)
- Amsterdam ($80 million budget, $31 million box office)

She's hot af and a good actress, but she picks shitty roles.

She's fine, that doesn't mean her movies interest me. Babylon just looks like a Great Gatsby knockoff, right down to starring Tobey Maguire. Amsterdam should have been good, she's good in it, but the movie wasn't good, especially DeNiro. The Suicide Squad was arse. I actually liked Birds of Prey. I saw none of these movies in the theater.

Never heard of Babylon or Amsterdam guess that had to do with shite marketing. Birds of Prey was good but weirdly marketed same with The Suicide Squad. I think that has somewhat to do with how shitty DC or I guess WB has handled the DCEU right now. I mean the 2016 was absolutely trash and made nearly $750 million

In fairness the era of an actor being a box office draw has long been past. There are an elite few who will actually bring in viewers just for being who they are, and even that I would argue is minimal.
People go for the movies in and of themselves now, not for the actors playing in them. It's been this way for quite some time, but it's more pronounced now than it has ever been.
None of these are good which is why they made no money. She's just made bad decisions

Wolf of Wall Street did pretty well. She didn't hurt that movie

Also starred Brad Pitt and Olivia Wilde and got pretty decent ratings. If Brad Pitt can't draw people in then there are multiple things that went wrong, not the lead actress.

I personally enjoyed both but they had terrible marketing. Especially Birds of Prey. Suicide Squad suffered from it being a reboot that was too soon after the 1st one that completely sucked.

Absolutely loaded cast.
Not sure I'd blame any of those not doing well at the box office on her or I don't think any actress could have made them do any better than they did.

Another question would be what happened to Damiene Chazelle. Two flops in a row

I never saw First Man to say if it sucked or not but I really want to see Babylon. I thought it looked good. Although I only saw a preview for it on TV once, I watched another one on YouTube. Based on ratings, it doesn't seem like it flopped because it was a bad movie.

But I don’t think she is all time hot

Margot is hot, but I am not going all the way to a theater to see her. If I need a fix, I can catch her by streaming any of a dozen films from my sofa.
When I go to the theater these days, it is to see BIG films that need a BIG screen.
Sorry, not sorry.

This happens to all actors nowadays. Audiences just aren't showing up for these types of movies. Especially one that's 3 hours long.

I guess she's the female version of Taylor Kitsch.
Rush to stardom based on looks but you're really just a supporting role player.

Newsflash. There’s essentially never really been modern era female box office draws. Maybe Julia Roberts.

Women aren’t usually box office draws. It’s just reality.
Men aren’t lining up for a hot woman.m just because she’s the lead of a movie. Because hot leads don’t get nekkid.
Women don’t care about hot women they want hot men.
Hot men are action stars.
Men like action.

The date movie seems to be something kinda on the decline. I know part of that is supposed to be the loss of DVD sales and rentals. But I also wonder if the Tinder era's effect on dating has also degraded the profitability of the genre.

I am not familiar with Amsterdam either, but Babylon is pure Oscar bait, nothing else. Those never do well at the box office.

She crushed it in Suicide Squad, but Birds of Prey was a dumpster fire.
