It’s this exact scene that made me start this thread.
Nice. There are so many gifs from that movie that could’ve just as easily been pulled.

I like Pacino in most movies, but most every movie he’s in, somewhere towards the end, he always has some over the top scene where he goes on this long, screaming rant. That the only thing annoying about his movies.

He's accurately rated.
This. There's never a dull moment. He's got some of the GOAT performances. And he's got some paycheck performances.
We know what his highs are/were and they were very high.
He's no Daniel Day Lewis. But who is?

DiCaprio is the same.
It's like Tarantino recognized it's essentially a meme and had him scream repeatedly in Django.

All actors are overrated. They play make-believe for a living.

The robberies and shootout in Heat are spectacular. I have to fast forward any scenes with Diane Venora and Natalie Portman. There was way more drama in that house, than the movie needed. I really didn't enjoy any of Di Nero's scenes with Amy Brenneman either. Di Nero's love interest seemed forced, and Pacino's seemed cliche. Neither added anything to an otherwise interesting, entertaining movie.
The side characters played by some very good actors were great. Ashley Judd was the only interesting female in the movie. Val Kilmer was the most believable star of the crew. Tom Sizemore was great as the real badass of the crew. Kevin Gage's Waingro character was perfect as the unknown, loose screw guy.
Ted Levine and Wes Studi played believable cops. Fichtner played a good cocky businessman. Jon Voight was good as the deal making money guy.

I've always wanted Pacino to play a librarian so everyone can see just had badly he sucks as an actor

Like any actor with a long list of film credits, there's going to be some great ones, so-so ones and total crap ones.
I look at him like I look at Dinero. They both are kind of phoning it in as they've gotten older and are less picky about the roles they chose to play. Basically cashing in on their name.

Al is a great actor. What are you comparing him to?

I wouldn't say that he perfectly portrayed Michael Corleone in 3 pictures. I think his portrayal in the 3rd film is one of the weakest parts of the movie. He just wasn't convincing as Michael. It was just typical 80s/90s Pacino. Definitely not the same character that had his brother put to death.

Point taken, but we'd probably agree that 3 isn't in the same stratosphere as 1&2. In 3, decades had passed since 2 and he was almost all the way legitimate. He just wanted to be out of it and enjoy what was left of his tattered family. Of course the character had changed, and Pacino did a fine job with it as usual.

I think it's his unique voice that gets him all these lead roles. Without that he's just another starving actor. He must also have the other qualifiers, show up on time, know your lines, and be pleasant to work with or at least not be dispuptive

I've always loved Al Pacino but I'm watching Heat right now for the 20th time and he's a clown character in this movie. You can tell Michael Mann gave him a lot of leeway in delivering lines and his improv Pacino-isms are just too silly half the time

That’s it. Improv Pacino sucks.
