You need to watch Panic in Needle Park and Dog Day Afternoon.

Cage is practically Kristen Stewart compared to the ham Pacino.

The films that he made in this nearly two decade gap are a big part of why I voted overrated.

Hell, I watched Heat a couple days ago. He was bad. Really bad.

Snap. "That's how I keep my edge."

"...a great arse!!!"

Was he over the top in Heat? I thought he was great in Heat. Him and De Niro both

He used to be a great actor. Then he turned into a caricature of himself. Same with deNiro but in different career arc.

Serpico.

I hate the screaming crap too but he is not overrated. Devil's Advocate? You could tell he really enjoyed that role.

I think he believed in that volatile style cause that was his niche .
Devils Advocate is the epitome of cringe for me but I understand some like it. Seems overdone IMO

Perfectly rated. I may be in the minority but Scent of a Woman was his best film.

I mean Scarface and The Godfather themselves make sure he is not overrated.

Scarface is a terrible movie. His accent is laughable. Now Godfather on the other hand.

It’s this exact scene that made me start this thread. Was watching some of that movie yesterday.
Have to admit I know there aren’t very many Robert Deniro fans here but I much prefer him quite honestly and like his movies. His politics suck tho

Young? Maybe actually underrated.

Old? Mostly overrated.

That said, enjoy Titus Welliver doing his incredible Pacino impressions based on age.

That guy is pretty good. And it got funnier when he got to scent or a woman Pacino.

I thought DeNiro nailed it in Silver Linings playbook as far as a “later role” is concerned. And though it’s not new AP in Insomnia was money. More recently I enjoyed his role in House of Gucci.
Their earlier bodies of work speak for themselves. They’re both legends.
