Ghetto around the Rose Bowl?

It's mid housing and a golf course.

You ever been to a game at USC?

Now that's a ghetto

They told us for the ucla game make sure you do not turn the wrong direction or you are in trouble. That was the hotel staff and we walked to the stadium.

From what I know USC entire campus is surrounded by ghetto so LSU has made it to their levels yet.

They need to move. The atmosphere is horrible

Best thing Tulane ever did was leaving the dome. And the dome is closer than the rose bowl

I totally understand moving from the Rose Bowl but SoFi is not it. I’m sure it’s incredibly difficult to find anything on or around campus suitable for a stadium, but they need to do that if they are going to move

Why on earth would they want to move to a soulless stadium like SOFI?

The obvious answer is they can sell suites and other BS for more money

I've got a friend who went to school in the L.A. area, so another friend and I went out for a week to visit and hang out circa 2000. The friend I went with wanted to see the Rose Bowl, so we drove out to Pasadena. We almost drove past the place in the dark (it wasn't lit up because there was no event that day), and it seemed like it was in the middle of a neighborhood.

Besides making the mistake of buying tickets in left field at Dodger Stadium and finding out that beer wasn't sold there because of rowdy nature of the section's normal patrons, that was the "sporting" highlight of the trip.

I remember going to a concert at Exposition Park, which is right next to USC. At the hotel, my wife wanted some snacks and drinks. So I found the closest 7-11, and I was like "Oh, that's pretty close. I'll just walk there"

As soon as I got a few blocks away from the hotel, I was like "Oh, boy." I manned up and completed the task, but I was NOT feeling great about it.

I'm really surprised UCLA hasn't pushed to get the Rose bowl demo'ed and rebuilt into a more modern version of itself.

These modern stadiums look good but often end up having incredibly flat and corporate atmospheres.

It’s sad how flat and generic sports are becoming

The setting is beautiful with the San Gabriel Mountains as a backdrop, but the facility itself is a dump. There are no suites or any other frills. It is just a large set of stands

I bet those suites would’ve really made the game more…

Enjoyable? No… that’s not the word.

Exciting?!? No…

Profitable for billion dollar organizations and luxurious for rich people?

Yea, I see why the beautiful views just didn’t make up for the lack of suites as a fan attending the game

The first thing they tell you at USC orientation is to never, ever go south of the Coliseum

The area between USC and downtown has significantly gentrified over the past 5-10 years. Expensive apartments and a Trader Joe's.

i went to the LSU game also. Pain in the butt to get there. No decent tailgating.
Hot as hell. Not a single TV to watch in the entire joint when down below the stadium. SOFI is the correct answer.

The rose bowl is probably the most generic college/pro football stadium of any size in this country. It’s a relic and not even a good one. When the by far best thing about your stadium is mountains outside of it that half the crowd can’t even see, your stadium is a dump. There’s no soul or uniqueness to the venue itself.

The Rose Bowl, Memorial Stadium in Berkeley and the Yale Bowl are nice alternatives to the soulless modern steel and glass stadiums. Just my opinion.
