re: After watching the Indiana versus Ohio State game, I’m convinced
Posted by West Seattle Dude on 12/27/25 at 11:52 am to Gideon Swashbuckler
This year it appears to me that the SEC is the best conference top to bottom with solid non-playoff teams like Arkansas, LSU and Texas. I do believe that the top 3 teams in the Big 10-Indiana, Ohio State and Oregon are better than the top 3 in the SEC-Alabama, Ole Miss and Georgia.
re: More bad news for California. The underfunded State Pension Fund may Bankrupt CA?

California sold their soul to the Public Employees Unions offering generous salaries and pensions in return for their votes. Same with Illinois. No way
Newsom will be on the ‘28 ticket. The other Dem nominees will gang-up on him.

I cash in coins at Coinstar twice a year. Inevitibly, there are always some Canadian coins that are rejected. Being relatively close to Canada might have something to do with it.
re: Notre Dame-USC rivalry coming to an end
Posted by West Seattle Dude on 12/22/25 at 4:05 pm to GentleJackJones
The USC Trojans will have the number one recruiting class coming in for 2026. The class is rated the highest of any class since the 90s when classes were first rated. How does this compute? It’s not like they are still a top 10 program at this time. Interesting to see how Riley performs with that level of talent.
re: Texas Dethrones Ohio State as the Most Valuable U.S. University Athletic Program

What a stupid, nonsensical retort to my post. I had the pleasure of being stationed at Fort Hood.Texas is mostly flat, ugly brown scrub. The Hill Country and far West Texas have some nice scenery, but they pale in comparison to lovely Washington State.

Texas is America’s greatest flyover state.

SF State was a D-2 powerhouse in football back in the 50s and 60s.
The five month student protests in 68-69 put an end to that. SF State makes UC Berkeley look like Oral Roberts University in comparison.

I read Charles Thompson’s book. As a kid, he would race for money that was put up by the local gangsters. He never lost a race.
re: California will continue falling as they continue to push out refineries.

California was the best state in America at one time when it was run by dems and republicans. They shared power and worked together for the betterment of the state. Once it became a one-party that was the end. Progressives are lazy and incompetent. Benign neglect has never worked.
re: O. J. Simpson, Something I had forgotten long ago
Posted by West Seattle Dude on 12/15/25 at 8:06 am to SirWinston
Simpson stated that when he was at San Francisco City College, he was recruited by some SEC and other Southern schools who wanted to make him the first Black player to play in the South/SEC. He wisely turned them down. At USC he made connections with the right people in the entertainment industry-USC alums, something that wouldn’t have happened at a Southern school. He never named the Southern schools that showed interest.

Brown used to be known as the Berkeley of the East Coast. A hippie school.
re: Skydiver in Australia had their parachute get tangled on their planes tail wing after exit

There is a skydiving school in Lodi, California that has suffered at least 20 fatalities since the early 80s. One involved an instructor and student in a tandem jump. No thanks.

The CFP should be the 12 highest ranked teams.

Mendoza just might be the most refreshing, nicest star in college football. How can you not like this guy.
re: Gary Ridgway, the Green River Killer, preparing to bust open the gates of Hell
Posted by West Seattle Dude on 12/4/25 at 10:28 pm to Scott68
I heard that Ridgway’s coworkers at Kenworth used to tease him about his resemblance to the composite sketches of the Green River Killer suspect. He just shrugged it off and continued killing. I was living in California at the time and had no idea that there was prostitution going on at Sea-Tac on Pacific Highway 99.

The only advantage of having Cal and Stanford in the ACC is for bragging rights when it comes to academics.

re: Nearby sex offender
Posted by West Seattle Dude on 11/28/25 at 8:54 am to SaintsTiger
There was a vigilante in Bellingham,WA who went online to see if there were any sex offenders in his neighborhood. He found two names listed. He went to the first address and the registered sex offender was not home. He then went to the second address and shot the registered sex offender to death.
It turns out the sex offender shot to death was convicted of statutory rape for having sexual relations with a 17-year-old girl when he was 19. Not exactly what one thinks of when they think of sex offenders.

re: Prime Ali vs. Prime Mike Tyson

I remember Ali as a light heavy on the 1960 Olympics. My money is on Ali, circa 1966-67 over Tyson. Ali’s footwork and head movement at that time were at their best. Ali wins by a decision, or possibly a TKO.

re: Small town America is truly depressing

Access to high-end medical care can be a problem for those who live in isolated small towns. Imagine having to drive two hours to see a specialist for frequent medical care.
