You're only divisive if your opinion is different.

Portnoy is a blowhard douche, but he’s right here. Wilbon is, like all of us at times, a hypocrite on this. He wants athletes to feel free to speak their minds, but really doesn’t like it when it’s not what he agrees with.

The Bruce Pearl redemption arc is kind of fascinating. He would have universally been called a scumbag a decade ago, this board included

Wilbon is a true piece of shite. He could’ve been cancelled in today’s world for what he said about Sean Taylor’s death.

I’m just curious how he is a scumbag? You can hate him because he is high energy and loud.

He hosted a party and lied about it. Beyond that, what has he really done? Be Jewish and stick up for his own?

It's the only thing I watch on ESPN other than live sports. I record it and watch it most days. Hell it only takes about 14 minutes to watch it fast forwarding commercials. Almost a nostalgia thing because I've watched it since a teenager.

They have both, but Wilbon in particular, gotten very angry and honestly just dumb at times in their older age. Tony admittedly watches minimal sports. They guy only follows a handful of teams and gets stuck on a player or team to hate and never lets it go. It's baffling how often he can bring up his dislike of Paul George and Novak Djokovic in any subject.

Wilbon has turned into a guy that is constantly living in the past. They will be talking on a subject about how well a current player is doing and Tony will commend him and Wilbon will just jump in screaming "WELL HE AINT WILLIE MAYS! HE AINT WILLIE MAYS!" Ok dude, just because people are complimenting a guy doesn't mean they are somehow making the argument that the guy is better than Willie Mays. It's really really odd how often he does that.

They are certainly a lot less likable than they were years ago, but I still tune in most days.

Saw the Bruce Pearl comments yesterday and thought it was odd because it was pretty awkward but didn't really think anything of it.

Wilbon is right. Pearl's open support of Israel is divisive. You can be on either side of it, but you cant pretend there arent two sides. We all know why Pearl does it. And we all should know why Portnoy is defending him.

Divisive is such a loaded word Especially if you only apply it inconsistently. Do you use it for Evangelicals but not Imans? Then you have decided to editorialize while pretending to be objective.

This caused me to grow tired of the show years ago. The concept for the show is great, and at one point it was one of the better products out there. But they need to find a younger duo to be the face of the program.

ATH is another one that became extremely frustrating when ESPN decided to mix politics into everything. Again, great concept that with the right group can make a quick rebound to being one of the best sports news shows.

Yes. We as a society are gazing into the abyss, only for it to gaze back.

I could be wrong but I don't think it's this.

I didn't think much of it at the time but forgot that Pearl recorded that kid on the phone back in the day trying to trap him. Looked him up and Thomas was from Chicago. So that would fit for Wilbon.

Though that was back in the late 80's and PTI has had Pearl on as a guest so presumably Wilbon wouldn't have wanted him on the show if he had a dislike for him since that time. His comments did make it seem it was something maybe more recent.

Either way, doesn't really bother me that a sports personality doesn't care for a coach. There are tons of coaches I don't care for, same for the rest of the board. Nothing wrong with having an opinion.

I don't agree with some of Coach Pearl's politics, but yesterday on the day of his retirement, that shite is disrespectful.
