Japan implemented loose monetary policies that led to extreme speculation in real estate and the stock market. By 1989, the Nikkei 225 index reached nearly 39,000. When the Bank of Japan raised interest rates to cool the market in 1990, the bubble burst. Land and stock prices plummeted

The Hangout Sports Pub in Lafayette will have watch parties specifically for soccer matches that draw the passionate futbol crowd. I've gone, and it's probably best you'll get around here.

Isn't it crazy that all of the controversies of today that are happening on a day-to-day basis would have been massive stories more than 10 years ago?
It's exhausting.
This is so ridiculous.

Sounds like air could be making its way to the pump, causing it to lose prime.
Two things worth trying:
1. Buy a pool pump seal kit and replace all the seals on your pump.
2. Could also be spider gasket of your filter.
Not sure if all filters have one, but mine has an air relief valve that I can bleed air out of the system as a short-term fix for a few hours (if experiencing air intrusion).
Pool timer, not sure. If it's a mechanical intermatic, maybe your metal trippers aren't fully tightened down. Or maybe gears are going bad and just need to replace the timer mechanism.

How big of a group? If you want to be nearby: Central Pizza, Spoonbill, and Hideaway on Lee have good cocktails. Little bit further out is Yard Goat, Corner Bar, Social, and LaFonda.
I'd just stick with Pamplona or Vestal bars before reservations unless looking for variety.

Idk if anyone has tasted the Lasso Motel offerings, but they're really solid. Sourced from MGP and Green River.
Tried the Darts Cigarette Blend, Single Barrel Cask Strength Rye, Amburana Cask Finish, 8 Year Boubon Whiskey. Would pass on the Amburana, but picked up a bottle of the cask strength rye for myself.

Not enjoying the price of everything going up doesn't make someone a democrat.

What does this tell you?
That the majority of Louisiana parents treat school as daycare and don't care about education beyond their kids hopping on a bus and going away for a few hours.
I think the educators in my life would possibly agree to even take a pay cut if they received the ability to remove bad behavior from their classrooms.

Job performance
Only way I would accept a job as a teacher if my pay was tied to student performance would be if schools and teachers were empowered to actually remove bad behavior from their classroom. I would gladly sign a waiver to allow 24/7 recording of the classroom so that parents can see how abhorrent some of their kids' behavior is.
Some of you must not have an educator in your lives. These classrooms aren't filled with model students eager to learn for the day.

re: Am I just getting older or does it feel like society is collapsing?
Posted by Baers Foot on 5/12/26 at 9:13 am to mule74
To stabilize it will take regulating and restricting social media (and banning shite like OF and prediction markets) like the chicoms are doing, but that puts us in an existential conundrum with our beliefs as a country.
But we already gave away our freedoms for airport pat downs and warrantless surveillance, so who knows what else we'll be willing to let the government do. I guess whatever social media algorithms tell us to do.

My choices would be:
Don's (if you want to stay in Lafayette)
Dupuy's (if you don't mind a drive to Abbeville)
If you want a hole in the wall place, Richard's Seafood Patio in Abbeville as a dark horse.

Whatever you do, make sure you cut your yard at a much higher blade setting. Cutting low and scalping your yard gives weeds the best environment to thrive.
re: Anybody have a cultured marble shower?
Posted by Baers Foot on 4/21/26 at 1:38 pm to turkish
My install had the walls sit inside a very tall, raised pan/curb. Without a caulk bead, you'd have to fill up the pan/shower with about 2 to 2.5 ft of water for it to climb behind wall and over pan.
