Did MJ ever win a title when Pippen wasn’t at least the 3rd best player on the court

Beat Lakers - Scottie was better than Worthy
Beat Blazers - Scottie was a lot better than Terry Porter
Beat Suns - Scottie was better than Kevin Johnson
Beat Sonics - Scottie was probably better than Kemp and Payton
Beat Jazz twice - Stockton was close but could do nothing defensively against MJ or Scottie

MJ always has the better roster and 3rd best player at worst in every finals win.

Imagine if you switch Pippen with the opposing teams second best player.

I think the Bulls still beat the Lakers, Trailblazers, and Sonics but the Suns would have won with Barkley and Pippen and the Jazz would have won with Malone and Pippen.

Nike, ESPN, and David Stern dedicated a lot of effort to minimize Scottie’s greatness. Remember without MJ the Bulls would have gone to the finals of not for a bad foul call in game seven of the ECF.

MJ averaged 40 fricking points in the 93 Finals. He fricking carried that team.

Imagine how many finals MJ would have made if he played in the terrible Eastern Conference with D. Wade and C. Bosh as teammates.

Both are true. MJ was incredible and Pippen was easily the third best player after MJ and Barkley.

They needed both MJ and Pip because the margin was pretty thin in that series. If Paxson's 3 doesn't go in, the Suns would have gone into a Game 7 having won 3 of the last 4, including 2 on the road.

As good as Barkley was, can you imagine if Draymond Green was on that Suns team instead? 4-0 Suns rout.

Kidding.

What a resume

Beat Isiah’s Bad Boy Pistons
Best Magic’s Lakers
Beat Ewing’s Knicks
Beat those great Cavs teams with Price and Daughtery
Beat Barkley and KJ when he was MVP
Beat Shaq and Penny
Beat Kemp and Payton Sonics
Beat Drexlers Blazers
Beat Stockton and Malone

That’s basically the best teams of an entire generation of basketball and none of them could beat the Bulls

Who did I forget?

Stockton was probably as good as Pippen

You say he couldn't do anything offensively but his numbers in the Finals are exactly what you would expect from him. 15 ish points a game and a frick ton of assists.

Kevin Johnson wasn't as good for as long as Pippen and probably had a lower peak, but at the time he was very good and had similar numbers to Pippen and a similar PER.

Peak Scottie was 94-96
Peak Kevin Johnson was probably 89-92-ish

Pippen averaged 21.2 ppg, 9.2 rpg, 7.7 apg, 2 steals and a block

By comparison Kevin Johnson averaged 17.2 ppg, 3 rpg, and 6.5 apg

Considering the Bulls won one game by 1, one by 3, and one by 6, and one by 8, it is safe to say swapping Pippen also swaps the series. Even though the Bulls won 4-2 both teams scored the same amount of points in the series. Transfer Scottie’s points over to the Suns and KJ’s to the Bulls and the Suns outscore the Bulls by 24.

I just really hate how little respect Scottie gets

On the 4th try. Detroit had previously schooled the Bulls in three playoff round appearances.

He also lost to the Shaq/Penny Magic, but it's not like the Jordan Bulls aren't a legedary team. Everyone just loses sometimes.

All those teams had great players everywhere and I dont remember growing up and thinking Pippen was a top NBA guy although he was always really good.

Thomas, Dumas, Laimbeer
Bird, Parish, McHale
Magic, Worthy, Kareem, Rambis

its just such a stupid argument when people play the "take pippen away" card. Ok are we to assume the Bulls would have signed no one else in this imaginary scenario? You can't remove one puzzle piece and then assume everything else plays out as it did.

One of these is not like the others, and not just because he wasn't on the 1991 Lakers.

Exactly.
Dirk is pretty much the only champion to win it all without another All-NBA level player on his team in the modern era.
