So overrated that as the guy without Jordan the Bulls won 55 and were Starks getting stupid in game 1 and a shot in game 5 from leading them to the finals without Jordan. Such a trash roster Jordan carried to those three championships.

7 time allstar and GOAT perimeter defender Scottie Pippen is overrated. This board.

He wasn't on the 91 Lakers either

Never said he was. My point was all those great teams had several great players.

Dirk is pretty much the only champion to win it all without another All-NBA level player on his team in the modern era.

Yahoo roundtable - did the Bulls ever really beat a great team?

That is exactly what I am saying. Expansion allowed for the Bulls to keep a very underpaid Pippen and dominate due to a watered down league.

its just such a stupid argument when people play the "take pippen away" card. Ok are we to assume the Bulls would have signed no one else in this imaginary scenario? You can't remove one puzzle piece and then assume everything else plays out as it did.

I agree. Give them the second best player on each of the teams they faced in the finals and Jordan has three rings. Going 3-3 in the finals.

Those numbers don’t tell the whole story. Pippen was an excellent defender. Sure he was there to score but his job was being a lockdown type defender.

He was the best defender I’ve ever seen.

Scottie IS overrated, the OP is all the evidence needed to come to that conclusion.

You call Pippen overrated but claim Harden is the best ever?

Titles they were instrumental in winning

Pippen -6
Harden 0

Expansion allowed the bulls to retain their core while other teams could never catch up.

Instead of fringe playoff teams getting the talent the expansion teams got Shaq, Garnett, Mourning, Johnson, Hardaway, and others.

Never said harden was the best ever but he is on another planet from Pippen.

Not as good as Scottie. 95-96 was his prime too.

Payton is one of the few semi-close to Pip on D, but this was prior to his offensive peak. It was probably peak Kemp, but he just wasn't as good as Scottie.

Defense isn’t nearly as important an offense. Sorry Pippen.

1998-Scottie coming off the foot surgery then plays on a bad back in the playoffs/Finals, dude TOTALLY wasn't the Scottie we knew then, MJ basically completely carried them to that title

When Scottie was at his peak his metrics were not as good as hardwns career averages. And not even in the same planet as the peak of harden that we have seen the last 3 seasons. Not even remotely close tbt.

But to be fair to Scottie the only players I can find with a better 3-4 year run than harden is lebron and MJ. Not kobe, not bird, etc etc. def not Pippen.
