The A's from this move alone will significantly increase in franchise value. And I'm sure the stadium will be insane too with the money behind it.
One of the cheapest franchises moving to a city that brands itself on flashing wealth and excess is an interesting juxtaposition.

Yeah that’s my bad. Meant to say the Braves and O’s franchise has been apart of 3 cities.

What is the attendance going to be like in Oakland for these last few years.
Can’t get worse, probably better since the team has a direction now.

Vegas is coming up quick. I’m sure they’ll have an NBA team before long.
Vegas has been a fast growing city for a while. The only hesitancy in putting a team there was it was the only place sports gambling was legal. Now that gambling is legal in many states across the nation, that concern isn't there any longer so it makes sense that would be a prime spot for west coast relocation

Rename the team the aces so you can keep the a’s moniker and also have something that fits the city.

Reno Aces are about to make bank selling their name.

This is the death knell for Oakland because losing the NFL and MLB franchises means they just dropped below Des Moines in terms of national media coverage once this teams bolts for Vegas.
"The deal is for the land only, with the A’s having an option to purchase an additional 8 acres at a later date. Kaval said a $1.5 billion, 30,000-seat, partially retractable roof stadium would be built on the site, and that ancillary development, including but not limited to food and beverage establishments and even an amphitheater, are also in the cards."
"The A’s have been working with Las Vegas economist Jeremy Aguero of Applied Analysis, who determined that the new ballpark would draw around 400,000 incremental visitors annually to Las Vegas."
The A’s have been working with Oakland officials on the planned $12 billion Howard Terminal project, which is centered around a $1 billion waterfront ballpark near Jack London Square. Since the Oakland City Council approved its own version of a term sheet for the project in July 2021, the A’s and city officials have been working to resolve issues between the two sides. Many of those issues still remain, inducing off-site infrastructure costs and affordable housing.

That's 2 professional teams that Oakland has lost (to LV) in the last 5 years. How in the world is the city that bad off to do something like that?
Posted on 4/20/23 at 9:24 am to UltimateHog
Maybe I’m just getting older but I’m ready for the sports bubble to burst.

Declining business environment, high tax rate, high crime, and politicians that rival Seattle, Portland, San Fran, and New Orleans in terms of their mental intellect. LV will draw a lot of free agents because of the state income tax structure and the owner of the A's will reap huge financial rewards in terms of lower tax rates by moving out of California and Oakland.

That all makes sense. Oakland has never really been a city with big opportunities. But to lose 2 professional teams in 5 years???? Jeez.

Plus the Warriors moved to a new arena in San Francisco.

What's with everyone saying to change their name? They're one of the oldest and most successful clubs in baseball, and the Athletics nickname and elephant mascot have followed them across the country.
But hurr durr, Vegas Aces, get it?! There's no reason to change to something gay like that now.

Vegas is such a weird collection of transplants that it just might work. 70% of their ticket sales will be to transplant fans originally from a different city wanting to see their home team play
Like the Rays, Marlins, and Angels games.

Agree it would be pretty stupid if they change the name

There is already the Reno Aces in AAA. They won't change the name like that. Pretty sure this will be the 4th city for the A's and they've kept the name to this point.
