He wanted to be an everyday starter, and Jay told him that wasn’t happening.

He wasn’t going to start in the outfield. So 1st base would have been his only option and Jay liked Yorke

Because the starting outfield was set.

He wasn’t going to get the playing time that he wanted.

Did not start on a national championship team and said team returned every outfielder

Because Stanfield was returning, and he wanted to play every day.

He batted .281 with 1 home run and 16 RBIs. 30 Ks, 33 BB.

Not really a guy I would have been pining for, though I was sorry to see him go, TBH.

But not better than Braun.

But not better than Braun. Who was our first baseman when the season went downhill. So really wouldn’t have mattered either way it would have turned out the same way

Larson entered the portal before we even signed him.

He had no spot on the LSU lineup. He would be a bench player at Texas but they had two position player injuries. His SEC play offense numbers might be worse this than last season

They weren’t. In 12 SEC plate appearances last year, he slashed .182/.250/.455. In 72 SEC plays appearances this year, he slashed .255/.453/.291.

Correct. Braun is better regardless. He would have played very little this year again

Agreed.

After his freshman year. I wanted Larson to catch on, so much. Last year it just didn’t happen. He couldn’t crack the lineup, and all the outfielders were returning .

He didn’t exactly light the world on fire in Tx, either.

Larson wanted an OF starting spot, he wasn't getting that here entering year 3

He transferred to Texas who gave him said OF starting spot, they replaced him late in games early on with a much better OF...then he lost that job and got moved to occasional DH/1B player

Same thing would have happened here, he just probably would have won the 1B job outright a lot sooner but Braun probably takes that 1B from him here. He was a very average at best hitter who wasnt a full time starter this year in the SEC. He didnt have a single HR and only 2 2B in 76 plate appearances in SEC play

I don't buy that he didn't have a chance to start for us. Year after year, there is a player that hits his way into the lineup and Larson as a freshman is an example of that. This year Braun hit his way into the lineup and Serna/Arrambide went from a straight catching rotation to a catcher/DH rotation because of their hitting.

If Larson returned to the form of his freshman year, he probably beats out Stanfield even if he doesn't get hurt Turns out Larson probably would have strated most of the season if he hit well anyway because of the injuries to Stanfield and later to Brown

Larson had 2 extra base hits in all of SEC play while hitting .255

Yeah he would have played some this season (who didnt); he wouldnt have made any diffrence though

I hope we don't recruit 300lb baseball players moving forward.
