re: How crazy is it that Brian Kelly fired Tommy Moffitt
Posted by TigerDM on 5/22/26 at 9:45 am to SulphursFinest
There was a major issue with our O line when Moott was here.
I don't care how strong a player is, your technique must be good to
be a good O lineman. When our line failed to get a good push against
lesser opponents, it was genereally assumed by our fans that they weren't strong enough. While strength is a necessity for O lineman, if they can't put that strength with good technique, they aren't going to effective. While I was never sure how good Moffitt was, I was sure that we were certainly strong enough to look much better than we were.
Hopefully we have corrected this situation to now have great coaching along with superior strenth and conditioning

While his evaluation skill was suspect, nobody better at going to get someone that he is told we need.

Because it’s his right hand it’s possible he could DH, definitely vantage catch. It all depends on the swelling going down to allow him to grip the bat

Staying ahead in the counts was the difference. Our pitchers are
consistently behind in the counts and either walk the batter or throw
one right down the middle which is knocked out of the park because the batter knows it’s coming. When the batter is behind in the count they can’t just wait on that fat pitch

It also appeared that Curiel was getting pulled after the first. Stanfield was in center and Braun had moved to right, then Curiel came out of dugout and Braun went back to first base
Wonder what was going on?

I don’t believe that 50% number, that’s probably worst case. I would imagine anyone that is having a large amount of credits not transfer wasn’t taking real courses and not in a true major

Guidry has th appearance at times of being effective. This is
because the batter knows he’s going to make a mistake sooner
than larer and they are just waiting on that fat pitch. This is the reason
he has a good many strikeouts, but Avery high percentage of the
hits he gives up are homers.

While I'm not too sure about the interferrence call, the runner should have definately been held up at third. The left fielder was shallow and the ball was hit directly to him. Ball beat the runner by quite a bit.
re: Defensively- will Milam be the best ever for LSU at SS

As good as he is, he doesn’t have the range Bregman did, so
it’s very close which one is the best

The fact that he is viewed to have a tremendous upside will increase his value. A lot of players are viewed as already maxed out physically and don’t have a big upside
I sure hope he comes back, but unless he has big NIL contracts, I don’t see it

re: Grand slams by LSU this season

What was something about all the homers this weekend was until the final Milan 2 run homer we had 2 grand slams and 10 solo homers
I think she realizes she isn’t cut out to be a point guard. However it
would be a great help to her career if she can play point when needed and improving her passing skills

I'm happy too that a Louisiana kid is doing well, we need more.
I definately had concerns about his defense, but if JJ could make
Tommy Tanks a pretty good defensive 3rd baseman, there was hope that
he could do the same for Pearson.

I'm for something like the ring of honor which would be similar to retiring a jersey but not a number. As it stands now, Faulk is the only player that I feel should have their number retired. Because Burrow and Daniel were only here for 2 years, 1 good year and 1 great year, I wouldn't say theri numbers should be retired, but I think they should be honored.
He must not be ready at first since he isn't even the second first baseman.
Can't remember which one, but either Arambede or Serna started at first one geme and the other caught

Doghouse is possible, but got to believe he had some kind of injury.
JJ has always relied on 2 catchers, one primary and a second tto catch mid week games and typically game 2 of our SEC series. While I was looking for the flip to Serna as primary catcher, he would never be the exclusive catcher.

He was dealt a very bad hand with the NCAA briefing down our neck as a punishment for not firing Wade. But even after this cloud went away, he was never able to get anything going, while schools like Vandy and Mizzou showed massive improvements from being terrible despite not having our resources.

What always surprises me about Z Johnson is her ability to rebound and she is better at getting shots off down low without getting them blocked than the 3 that are taller than her
There is always several good playere coming out of LA, but we don't seem to recruit them. Just like in football, there is always good players that are underated that goes somewhere else and has a really good career.
We need to do a better job scouting the LA players to get these diamonds in the rough. We still have to depend mainly on out of state players, but we need to be gettting the top players in the state and we aren't getting hardly any of them

Toppin is one of the best players in the nation, none of our players come close to being that
