I lived in 4 states after college. Moving back to Louisiana was the best decision ever. I love it here.

The United States Navy. Left for Pensacola never moved back. Wife wants to move back after she retires. We spent 10 years in TN and absolutely loved it, got transferred to TX and immediately started planning to move back to Folsom.

Being a crime victim was one.
Having to settle for a very low level entry level job after college was another.
Attempts to advance my career with no takers in La, but takers in a much higher population Texas was another.

go live in the snow for a while then come back. a couple months of heat aren't that big of a deal
i don't find the weather here is THAT bad.
there are better areas in the country. but that list isn't that long.
there are much better reasons to hate or leave Louisiana than the annual weather

The worst part of Louisiana is watching people whine and cry. If you don't like it, fix it. Every thread and social media comment is negative.
We need law enforcement to enforce laws, from litter and blight to traffic violations to locking repeat offenders up for a long time. Teach the riff-raff to respect their state and neighbors or there will be consequences.
And vote right. Quit voting for a letter behind a name. Vote for people who will make hard decisions that benefit the state. When people make hard decisions that benefit the state, show support instead of whining.
I like it here for the most part. Public education, crime and litter suck. But the outdoor activities are great, people for the most part are chill and the cost of living beats the hell out of my time in Florida.

Where do you think you're escaping this?
I left chasing a better career, and got it. I returned to finish my degree, and shite like the Stelly plan, and other political issues made me realize the state would never stop punishing high performers, and never be any better overall. I left right after Katrina, and will never, ever move back. Not having any family there helps, so I don't have a bunch of cousins and uncles trying to keep me in the lobster pot to be boiled along with them with shitty jobs, incomes, etc. Louisiana is the land of MBAs waiting tables at Chili's because of family.
A populace with a total lack of ambition and expectations out of its politicians is not for me.

It's crazy how family-oriented people are in LA. I could make a ton more away from here I could be so much happier so many posting say the same, but family keeps us here

That's a rough one. But honestly, Mississippi education is showing ambition, and has a lower top income tax rate. There are jobs up to 300k in my industry there, but not a lot of them. I'd probably move to Jackson, as I can't imagine that traffic is on the same scale as BTR/MSY.
