Exactly what I/we did. The Friday night wedding was a blast and everybody stayed in town for the Sturday night fun. The following weekend, LSU beat Alabama en route to their 2007 national Championship (2007)! The world was right those two weekends!!

My brother in law is coming to town on Saturday and he and my wife's sister want to go to festival. I let them know my butt will be in a seat either here with gumbo, wings, meat pies, shrimp creole and great bourbon or at a sports bar, and they can go walk around looking at arts and crafts all they want without me. People need to plan their lives better.

In the same boat brother one of my closest buddies is getting married at 5:30. I’m actually a groomsmen in his wedding. Gonna Have my YouTube tv ready to go lol

They got it half right - wedding during an away game. You can attend the wedding and skip the reception and barely miss any of the game. And it is no crime to watch on your phone during the reception. The bride won’t even know or care. The groom will completely understand.

There are a lot of snarky comments that can be said making fun of this.
But I find it downright disrespectful to your guests.
Why put them in a tough position?
You just changed the narrative of the whole night. A night that was supposed to be all about being happy for you just became a night people are pissed off they are missing the game. Most of the people that do decide to attend will be more concerned about watching their phones instead of your wedding. Congrats, you just became the arse-end of jokes for the next 10 years.
