Were you under the impression is was a giant slum with 750,000 people living like rats? There are lots of nice areas. Just like any other mid-size city. Nice parts and not nice parts. Go to Lousiana Lagniappe and get the red fish papillote. If you like bourbon, head over to the Houmas House Plantation down the road in Gonzales. Tell them you are headed to their bar on the property. Cool small place with a shocking number unicorns. The restaurant is also top notch.

It is not the nicest BR hotel. I like Watermark. But I have seen Eagle 17 at the Renassiance for 22 a pour.
