It is very simple for running qbs. Your star stays in front of the running qb. You move him sideline to sideline with that qb. That is it. You don't blitz him. You don't send him into coverage. You have him stay in front of the qb the entire time. If that star over commits or doesn't listen, then the star can come sit next me. If the dc blitzes that star repeatedly, then that dc can come watch the game next to me too. Our star generally played better after CBK left. He didn't over commit like he was doing against Aggie and that little angry midget from Vandy. But the main reason those two qbs got off on us was the star not doing the above.
