I support Tre' Dez in whatever he wants to do.
However, no matter how well he does, it seems like it is a wasted effort with this team.
And, there is the risk of injury of some sort that could impact his preparation for football next year (he is early on WR learning curve as a young player).
I hope he and his coaches take this into consideration, and i am sure they've discussed it.

I respect many of you most of the time, and some of you none of the time.

I must be old, dumb, or both.

Maybe just missing something.

Did Dreadlocks of Doom happen, or not?

I must be missing something.

Edit: Reading comprehension fails me again! I see now: basketball and football. Very different.

My thoughts on this is it's a waste of time. IMO, after this year, Green will not be participating in basketball.

Not a fan of it to be honest. Obviously his choice, but he’s much more valuable to the football team next year.

How do you know it is a waste of time? Have you seen him play? As far as injuries, those are much less common in basketball, than in football, so I don't think it is a significant risk. After he gets some playing time, it'll be much easier to assess his value. With the basketball team being weak in the front court, and his size, he could be very valuable to the team.

I can still see in my mind’s eye big Ben shooting a short baseline jumper for Dale Brown and the LSU basketball team.
I’m thinking it was on the day of a baseball game as well, but not sure if he pitched.

My main though is it's none of my business. If he's ok with it and coaches are ok with it, who the hell am I to say?

My initial thought was, why waste football talent on a crappy basketball team? But you've changed my mind. His life, his choice. And if the coaches are cool with it, great. This may be a positive for conditioning, agility, etc. My only concern is academics. Hard with sports in both fall and spring.

So long as he does not get hurt I am fine. But basketball is not as injury prone as football.

Matt Jones, Arkansas QB from 2002-2004 used to play basketball for Arkansas along with being the starting football QB.

First he will need to get into a game. CMM said he has been practicing 5 v 5 for a week. I assume CMM won't put him into a game until he at least matches Miller and Boyde in practice, who will probably come off the bench before Green. I assume it would happen if a couple of bigs get in foul trouble, or if the game is too far out of reach. I could imagine Auburn beating us badly, and him making an appearance in garbage time. I'm looking forward to seeing him playing. It would be cool if someone got some video from practice to see if he looks like he belongs. I've searched for videos, but haven't found any.

Super human vision. I'm sure that helps on a basketball court. Just read he didn't even play baseball his freshman year at SDSU because of his basketball commitments.

No doubt. But this does some football-positive things as well. He will stay out of trouble, stay in shape of course and working on the quickness required in basketball can transfer to football, especially for a kid who is 6'7".

Not to Al Bundy this place up, but I played both sports in high school. Going to basketball was always surprising in how much quicker I was a month into the season. Same thing after leaving basketball for spring football. I was able to get up to speed quicker than when starting football in the fall. Other factors like wearing pads, and drinking in the sonic parking lot and laying around a poll over the summer likely had something to do with that as well, but still.

And the best thing about this, when he is sitting around at 57 yrs old like me, he wont regret the things he did do but the things he did NOT do.

One of my favorite all time baseball players. So glad I got to see him play back in the 80’s against the ‘Stros in the Astrodome.
