We all have the homer sunshine pumping with personal programs so I can understand the overconfidence they had but….. In the end, you’re going to need more than 3 hits in two games to beat a good program.

Not homer sunshine pumping. We played like shite. Catholic did everything they could to give us game 2. We walked 12, hit 2 and gave up 8 hits and they still only scored 5. We made fielding errors, got thrown out stealing 3rd twice, and started a catcher that never catches Dufrene and couldn't control the strike zone. 2 Catholic runs scored on passed balls.

Hats off to Catholic for sure, but you can't convince me that we never had a shot. I said previously I hope we didn't blow our wad against Jesuit at the plate, but evidently we did.

Pains me to say, but Go Saders.

Wonder if such deals preclude yall from playing at Miley…

Miley I think will remain the default for the early season home games. But looking at next year's baseball calendar, it looks like the season is pushing back 2 weeks, so it may not even be an issue. Gonna be a late finish next season, a lot of teams on the road and in Sulphur for proms and graduations.

Isn’t there some talk of major upgrade

I was talking to Johnny Curtis tonight about that. The city of Harahan has grant money earmarked and will match whatever money Curtis puts up. As of now, the upgrades I know are coming are folding seats, maybe 3 rows, behind home plate, opening the front of the dugouts and putting the smaller netted barricade like Walker High school had tonight, moving home dugout to 1b side and building locker room and bigger/better bathrooms and a home bullpen. Those are first phase that should be done within the next two seasons. A moveable fence has been talked about, but the cost doesn't really out weigh the need. Harahan has the rights to field for rec soccer, which usually doesn't end until right before district play starts so we would only be gaining 3-4 home games a year.

Wow, someone got their feelings hurt. I didn't say it was a top notch facility, I said field. The grass and dirt is kept in great condition. Could the park itself be better, absolutely and improvements are in the works, but it had to go through city of Harahan as well. We've played there for 30+ years and it's done the job. We don't have the money Jesuit has, remember, at the end of the day we're still a 2A school.

We played a double header on Saturday with no field issues whatsoever. I love the kiddie field remarks, 1 HR given up there all regular season, and Jesuit hit 1 each game in the playoffs. Ask kids that have played on it, probably one of the best natural surfaces around.

Anyhow, Curtis v Catholic @ Walker High, 7:00 pm tonight.
Word is Catholic refusing to move venues, hoping to have a game 2 Sunday and the if necessary game 3 on Monday so Lawrence can pitch again.
Catholic v Curtis canceled today. Exploring options for a field tomorrow. Video of Catholics outfield is like a swimming pool.

Parkview is 100% turf so maybe that's an option. Harahan is dry, but no way Catholic agrees to that.
Baton Rouge looks clear after 630. Depends of field conditions though. Catholic obviously pulled the big tarp out last night.

Could imagine if Hawthorne was calling basketball games this season?

Yeah, Richardson isn't bad at all. The #3 Wascom, may be better.

Yes, Lucas Lawrence threw a nono tonight against us. We threw our #4 starter, plus several relievers. Trying to sneak in a win against the Catholic ace. Kinda worked in our favor, didn't have to waste our best arms on a night where we couldn't get a hit.

Dufrene will start game 2, have every arm available still. Lock in.

Just mad KennahBra ain't on the list.
Weather looking worse this weekend than last weekend. Gonna be a lot of moving parts to get games in.
Wonder the possibility of Curtis and Catholic moving to Parkview with the turf. But honestly, I don't even know if that'll work. Not just wet surfaces, its the non stop rain.
Haven't heard any contingency plans yet from Coach, but I'm sure it's a very fluid situation.

curtis has paid them the last two years to go there and play.

Paid them as in the men's club cooked for the kids after the game. We didn't pay them to play. It does them more of a service than it does us. Stop talking out of your arse.
Centerville definitely doesn't compete with the big teams. 2 years in a row Curtis scheduled double headers and all 4 games done by 5 innings with mostly Curtis backups playing. Nowhere on the level with a Riverside or CCA who are same size schools, just in the select side.
The boys look and feel as confident as ever. Watching the bats come alive against Jesuit was a great sign, hopefully they didn't blow their wad already.
As a parent who's watched us get eliminated by Catholic 4 years in a row, definitely nervous. This feels like it's our time though. Catholic seems down a smidge from the last two years and we have our biggest and most experienced senior class since my senior year in 97.
Hopefully umpiring is consistent. I know, I know, it's always the umps, but game 2 last year had two very clear calls go Catholics way that led to huge momentum shifts. If our pitching can come out hot, we definitely can sweep this series. More than likely 3 games, but we have 4 quality starters. Bullpen is a little more shallow with a couple injuries, but we're deep enough to go 3 games.
I'm pumped and can't wait. It's my son's senior year and I'm not ready for to end just yet.

but the constant calls of cheating get old AF really quickly. Every one of these moves have been legit to the point of LHSAA going to the houses and making sure they live there.

Welcome to the life of a John Curtis alum and parent. If they aren't accusing of cheating, you must not be winning. Suck it up and quit crying, I've heard it for 40+ years now.
Curtis completes the sweep 12-10, heads to BR to face Catholic. Catholic has sent us home I think the last 5 years in a row.
